Oh well, I'm gonna vote for Ceremony, but wish to make it abundantly clear I'm voting for the original room-shakin' 7", and not the 12"!

I, like Jarvo, wish to make it clear i'm voting for the original Ceremony, not the wishy-washy re-recording.

Disregarding the re-recorded (inferior version IMHO), is there any difference between the 7" + 12" original versions? Sorree to rake over old coals:confused:

No, Ceremony was the same on both. I believe that In A Lonely Place was some two minutes longer on the 12" b-side though. But I may be wrong.

I thought 'Original 12"' was a good enough description to mean the one without Gillian!

How the hell did Temptation manage to get out of this?

Usually, it wins every poll!!!

Oh well, Ceremony vs TPK this time...

Nobody did a Retro bonus disc poll?

I think the 12" bit threw me - the original version which came out was the 7", then the same 12" followed a couple of months after that, then the Gillian version a couple of months after that again.

Sadly though, when I think of 12" I always think of the re-recording - the one which made it onto Substance, and which more people will doubtless be aware of.

Some pedant can now step in and say the 'original' was actually Joy Divsion! ;)

Sunrise defo for me.

Went for Primitive Notion.

Maybe the next idea should be to decide the ultimate new order track to get all the winners of best track polls for a big poll.

I know, i'll go and stand in the corner...

If DNE from the Peels were a contender I'd have voted for it. But it weren't, so I havent. TPK.

Wouldn't it be nice if someone from the band was reading this?

That would make a cracking gig!

They could even chuck in Temptation as well if they really fancied it!

Let's Go with no words - never bettered by the band. Perfection in three minutes !

Not wanting to piss on anyone's chips, but I have NEVER understood the devotion round these parts to "Let's Go" - sure, a chirpy little instrumental bound to trigger nostalgic memories amongst the hardcore, but up there with the greats....????

Help me understand, someone??????

Ceremony....but only cos Temptation never made it.

AOC just missed oot.

just wondering how many people realise it's not the full 12" of TPK on Substance as well.

That mising 44 seconds is a must;)

this was soooo hard!

But I just went to Crystal just b.c it was the first NO track that made me really get into them...

even though I had Substance for a while before it

My personal fave (TF) never made the final and it's so very hard to split most of those which have - so taking live renditions into account, I'll take the Ally Pally shaking "Ceremony" please . . .

They're all winners. I agree with Knownpleasures about Let's Go, but I've gone for 1963 - never has there been more emotion in Bernard's voice than on this.

where's Temptation and Vanishing Point, oh well I'll choose TPK

BTW, I went with Ceremony, even though I feel a little ashamed of saying they did their best song at the first recording they did as New Order, and it's down the road afterwards... :embarassed:

For God's sake, Slippy! Do you enjoy making these things tricky? Anyway, I'm going for Regret on this one.

The Perfect Kiss.

Not having Temptation as a choice made it straightforward enough!

No, I think the extra 44 seconds make the song drawn out a bit too long. The Substance mix builds, climaxes, and dies off just right, instead of the climax being drawn out too much.

But, that said, TPK (substance) was my vote.

Is the full TPK mix available anywhere on CD? as dusting off my record deck seems a bit torturous!

BTW sorry about that 'joke' Run2 thread! Was there any reason to lock it though?
