This little ditty should be of interest to our friend Buster.

Yesterday, walking down Utrechtstraat here in the 'Dam, on my way to one of the city's best secondhand/new record shops CONCERTO (have you ever checked it out, Dutch Jim or Mario??) I saw three (industrial supply?)vans parked near a tram stop all in a line. One behind the other. Each one was identical, with the word: KLOMP displayed in big red letters on the side. It just made me think of you Geoffroy! All quite surreal, don't you think?

I may have an explanation for this : klomp, I think, in dutch means that kind of weird shoes Brian May always wears without realizing he looks so silly in these.

Klompkes is for small ones.

But I think my name comes from the german 'sweets'. Marco Pleil, can you confirm this ?

You mean CLOGS? Do you not call them clogs there in Belgium? Actually I've often wondered what the Dutch call them..if not clogs? Thing is, the name of this company on the side of the van spelt KLOMP quite clearly, but they weren't anything to do with shoes or that - these were like industrial suppliers or something.

Having said that, you'd be right in assuming , like us, that Brian May does indeed look stoopid in Clogs. But then with a frizzy perm like his, he's totally out of time anyway. His world is forever 1973.

In french, we call those clogs 'sabots'...

Seb.

Ooooh! Getting Bitchy are we?? Out with the handbags then shall we??!!

From what I gather - the basic gist of what you said there Sebastien, was:

"Yes, if it wasn't for me, I think Martin Gray would be shot in the head with an arrow for all his rude messages.. [er...so I'm the only one making these??!!??]

This man is in dire need of a social life quickly/This man needs to get a life

So It's funny enough to speak about someone behind their back without them reading about it afterwards? I reckon a translation device should do the job nicely."

Well Sebs, is that pretty close - or am I miles away, huh?

OOoooHH!! Touché Touché! :nono:

Not exactly, Martin. The beginning was les agressive... Seb only said he wanted to throw a clog at you... :)

But what about the rest of it? Does that scan more or less right?? Do tell .....Do reveal!

And whilst we're on the subject......I've a strong suspicion there's some double standards at work here, I can't be cheeky for a giggle but others can.......tut tut hummmmph!! Not Fair!! :nono:

So, 'This man is in dire need of a social life quickly' was correct...

Then he says : it's quite funny to speak behind someone's back without him being able to read it. I wonder if his translation device will be able to do the work.

Well, I didn't know this word either, Pat. In french, we call that a sabot.

I don't know if there is clogs in America. It's a weird shoe, very heavy, that Brian May from Queen wears all the time.

I didn't know BM wore clogs Buster, surely that bingo-permed tosser can't be doing much good for the people who make them:lol:

YOU DIDN'T KNOW???? YOU DIDN'T KNOW???? YOU DIDN'T KNOW???? WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL THIS TIME???? HA HA HA HA!!!

Mind you, old agit-pop crusties New Model Army were champion clog wearers - so much so that when their beloved clog factory in Hebden Bridge (an attractive but arty bohemian place near Halifax, West Yorkshire) closed for the last time, Slade The Leveller (Justin Sullivan to his mum) held a vigil and a tribute gig, all for free, for his fans, in Bradford. Way to go, you old Cloggydoggy!!!

Yeah i know Concerto. Back in the eighties i would score all the Factory material possible from them. It is thanx to them that my collection of vinyl Factory items is as big as it is now.Wonderful shop. If you cross the road from Concerto and walk about 50 to 75 meters down the street , there you'll find "Get Records". Not a VERY LARGE SECOND HAND DEPARTment but they've got everything that comes out on vinyl(indiestuff and obscure labels).very worthwhile.

Sorry Martin but every time that bunch of anal retented shower of piss (QUEEN) appeared on the TV, it was quickly turned over!

Klumpy, I'm sorry, I was tied up for a while. What I meant was which word in the French version is translated as clog?

Okay, now I really feel stupid. I was not looking back at the preceding messages. Sorry, Klumpy.

Now you tell me :( - I've been back in England since earlier this afternoon. Were you not posting on "DE TIJD IS NU" thread when I mentioned I was sadly leaving back for home and I wasn't looking forward to coming back to Rubbish old England and its Rubbish Trains and Rubbish Bonfire Night and Rubbish British People?? OOhhhh.....if only you could have told me this on Wednesday, I would definitely have checked it out, but never mind, I shall have to do this when I next go over to the 'Dam - probably for the wondrous "Koninginnedag" next April (makes Notting Hill Carnival look like a tea-and-cakes gathering at the geriatric's home).

that doesn't sound too bad now. Do they provide you with beer and spliffs and are you allowed to listen to NO without a straightjacket? In that case:jump::jump:

Well, don't be sorry, Patsy, I can understand your confusion. Seb was actually saying that he would throw one, referring to the word mentioned in the previous post.

Lets stay in touch than , Martin. We could meet up and smoke our brains out. Mind you though , queensday in A'dam is overcrowded. Amsterdam people leave the city. Luckily me sister lives there so there is always a hangout possibility.

Yeah.....sounds possibly like a good idea....I could ponder over that one for the future........how about the other correspondents Dutch Jim SN and Young Offender - or is it out of the way for them? It shouldn't be......the Netherlands is a small and compact place anyway. I wish shitty England was so easy to get around if you DON'T happen to have a car!

Do you know, as I was leaving , there was sleet and hail and gale force winds in Amsterdam today but everything still worked as usual.: buses, trams, trains, everything. Coming back here to England today, the sun was shining but still the trains don't run on time, because apparently, bright blue skies and winter sunshine is still regarded as "adverse weather" here in UK. See what I mean? This bloody useless country ....... :(
