Is there any way we could do a poll of the songs on Get ready, from best to worst? I am reading so many different opinions. It would be interesting to see how people rate the songs, ranking from 1 to 10.

I think I've got a fair idea of which song will end up top of the pile for worst one, any way.
(from what I've been reading browsing through the threads since joining that is....)
How has it been done? Is there a reliable, systematic tally? How many opinions does the final vote reflect?

Or...how many spliffs can one smoke so as to exert a diversionary influence on one's otherwise fair judgement???

By the way, I think it's been a week since we had our last "Rock The Shack: love or hate" thread.
What's wrong with you guys?
S.
Here's what I think we should do: Everyone lists the ten songs in the order they like them. #1 on their list equals ten points, #2 equals nine points, etc. Someone tallies up the votes and gives us the results. We try to get as many people as possible to participate. What do you think? To make it really interesting, we could present the results according to when the person first became a New Order fan, i.e., 2 groups of fans: 1) those who became a devotee prior to Technique and 2) those who became a devotee after. I wonder how much the results would differ if we divided that way.
Well, Patsy, sorry I finally left you by yourself. Without any activity here, I left my computer alone for a while...
OK, let's try the poll :
- Turn My Way
- Run Wild
- Crystal
- Close Range
- Primitive Notion
- Someone Like You
- Vicious Streak
- Rock The Shack
- 60 miles an hour
- Slow Jam
Right here goes..but this is only the order at this moment in time, I go through stages of liking different ones 1 Primitive Notion 2 Turn My Way 3 Close Range 4 60mph 5 Crystal 6 Vicious Streak 7 Rock the Shack 8 Someone Like You 9 Slow Jam 10 Run Wild
Here's mine: #1 Slow Jam #2 Crystal #3 Run Wild #4 Primitive Notion #5 60 Miles an Hour #6 Close Range #7 Turn My Way #8 Someone Like You #9 Vicious Streak #10 Rock the Shack
I am apalled that Slow Jam is appearing so low on other people's lists.
Another good idea. I know this much, snce i have heard the BBC 2001 reordings, i have liked Slow Jam much more.
So here is my 10 in order of best to least best
Close Range Primitive Notion Crystal Someone Like You Vicious Streak Slow Jam 60 MPH Turn My Way Rock the Shack Run Wild
Mine will be
1.TMW 2.VS 3.60MAH 4.C 5.PN 6.SLY 7.CR 8.RTS 9.RW 10.SJ
RTSKOGOYAAFL (RockTheShackKindOfGrowsOnYouAfterAFewListen)
- Primitive Notion
- Crystal
- 60 mph
- Vicious Streak
- Slow Jam
- Rock The Shack
- Turn My Way
- Close Range
- Someone Like You
- Run Wild
I really changed my mind on "Slow Jam" and "Rock The Shack", i really do like them now :D
1 Crystal 2 Primitive Notion 3 60Mph 4 Turn My way 5 Rock the Shack 6 Vicious Streak 7 Close Range 8 Run Wild 9 Someone Like You 10 Slow Jam
here's mine:
Primitive Notion Crystal Vicious Streak Someone Like You Rock the Shack Run Wild Close Range Turn My Way Slow Jam 60 MPH
- Crystal =2. Everything else
(Sorry, just can't choose, although the Lamacq versions of RTS and CR sway me more in their direction, than anything else, especially RTS).
Here's my list (with ratings and all!)
#1 Crystal (9.8) #2 Someone Like You (9.1) #3 Vicious Streak (8.9) #4 Turn My Way (8.7) #5 Slow Jam (8.1) #6 Run Wild (8.0) #7 Primitive Notion (8.0) #8 Rock the Shack (7.9) #9 60 Miles An Hour (7.5) #10 Close Range (7.4)
Non-GR-tracks #1 Sabotage/RTRD (9.2) #2 Player in the League (8.5) #3 Behind Closed Doors (3.7)
(1) Crystal <---- Promoted
(2) Primitve Notion (3) Close Range <---- In the Play offs (4) Turn my Way for the (5) Someone Like You "New Order Premier League"
(6) RTS (7) Run Wild (8) 60 Mph (9) Vicious Streak (10) Slow Jam (R)
Let's see: Crystal Turn My Way Vicious Streak Primitive Notion Run Wild RTS Someone Like You Slow Jam 60 MPH Close Range
Yes, that's right, I hate Close Range the most. Differing myself from the RTS pack....
I have been over to neworderweb.com on their message board. People over there seem to LOVE Slow Jam. What's wrong with you people?
Any way, keep the lists coming. The more, the better.
The question is rather what's wrong with them? The most unifying principle here may well be the feeling that Slow Death is the worst thing NO have ever done.
Patrick,
You can SAY it's the worst thing they've ever done (which is a very bold statement). But what reasons do you have? I'd be willing to bet that they won't hold up to scrutiny.
