atrocity exhibition, and other stories

I've been reading "Atrocity Exhibition" (a.k.a. "Love and Napalm, Export: USA") by J.G. Ballard lately. Interesting little book. This quote made me think of Mr. Curtis and his onstage epilepsy:

"The human organism is an atrocity exhibition at which he is an unwilling spectator."

Also mentioned in the book: "the record labels of a pop singer known as The Him"

Quite probably where the name of the Movement song came from, yes?

Also, I noticed the other day when I was watching a movie for class called "The Other Sister" that the Substance mix of Temptation was in it for about 30 sec. in some rich fucker's wedding reception scene. Anyway, that is all.

That does make one think at the very least about the title of the Movement tune. I mean c'mon, you can't ignore the facts here:

"The Him", JG Ballard (Hello!!), AE...almost sounds contrived!! I knew it...NO are indeed plotting to take over the world, albeit VERY slowly. REJOICE FELLOW NOOLERS!! OUR DAY IS AT HAND!!

Never mind that. Great eye His Holiness, that was my point.

This book written before or after Joy Division?

Does that answer it or what?

Must admit I found it a pile of unreadable bollocks, tho' it does have a chapter imaginitively titled 'Why I Want To Fuck Ronald Reagan'. Ian apparently saw the name of the book listed in a different JG Ballard book that he was reading and used it as the title for a new set of lyrics that he'd written 'cos he couldn't think of any other title for it.

Yeah, I think that's mentioned in Alan Hempsall's "A Day Out with Joy Division", a great piece that can be found somewhere on Frank Brinkhuis webpages.
