nme.com is currently confirming The Pixies reunion tour now that greedy guts Black Francis is getting paid what he wants, and Kim Deal is being promised smack as part of the rider.
Any other NOOLers planning to come along and see another bunch of past-their-sell-by-date-once-great-80s-has-beens???!!!
Certainly will be squire - still have fond memories of the last Pixies show I caught, at Hanley Victoria Hall in 1990 !
Yeah, I'll go along, out of curiosity more than anything else.
Not to the Chilli Peppers gigs though.

Sorry, Clive, my vague info is culled directly from nme.com, and there's simply mumblings about the inevitable series of UK festival appearances, plus the couple of (as yet unconfirmed) Brixton dates Al mentions.....
Second-headliners at V Festival is likely. Plus, bands at V tend to appear at T In The Park as well so......

First: straight from the mouth of the horse as if were: I remember Sebastien saying that this place was not only for New Order but for all serious musical discussion (reckon the original idea was to get rid of lager & footie threads, was it not?) so this thread rightly belongs in here.
Please keep us posted lads, I intend to do some festival or other this Summer and to see the Pixies is too good a chance to let it pass.
They've also confirmed an appearance at T in the Park (Glasgow) - not sure which day yet, tho'....

Yeah, got 4 for each show - standing - but 2 for each night have gone to the Hibster already cos he was too late phoning..
Pixies will also be playing the Coachella Music Festival (in Palm Springs, CA), Saturday, May 1, along with Radiohead and Kraftwerk.
Luckily they were on sale before 9am (well 8:55am - couldn't believe my luck! :D), so I've got one standing ticket each for both Friday and Saturday!

So far in Holland there's only a date confirmed at a festival at the end of May; I'm hoping that they'll do a proper show as well.
So who's gonna be at these gigs - is it useless old bastards like us lot who remember them first-time round, or is it going to be young whippersnappers for whom the world began with "Nevermind" and who've caught on to them through constant namechecking?
Hopefully "us" useless old bastards. Too many kids spoil the equilibrium. They should save their money for Known Pleasures gigs instead.

I'd offer it to Dave first, Tim - I think he's trying to get to as many gigs as poss. He's a bit of a fan, I feel.
I'll probably be happy with two gigs - again, it's more social than anything what with the Hibster in town, and a lot of other mates going...
Is it just me, or are they weirdly "bigger" now than they were before the split? Don't think they sold out four nights at Brixton even at their early 90s commercial peak. And as for that 1990 Victoria Hall gig in Stoke - correct me if my memory is fuzzy, but wasn't it only about two-thirds full, Tim?

Yeah, that's about right. Front was packed as per usual, but there was space out back. We sat upstairs for Barkmarket the support, and moved down just before the behind the curtains Cecilia Ann. Still a lot more there than for the Order seven years previous !
They are a lot bigger these days - reputations and absence are great sales gimmicks, unless you are the Bunnymen !
They've beccome a bit of a legend over the years. Funny thing this massive attention...I saw Frank Black just two months ago perform in front of 300 people in my home town. He's been adding more Pixies tracks to the set over the last few years. So I guess this reunion was just a matter of time. And in case you're wondering: yes...he can still do the scream :D

I think it's a case of so many people (critics and bands both) citing them as an influence that it's assumed they must've been wildly popular. I saw them several times back in the day and I can remember at least two of those occasions just going on the spur of the moment and buying a ticket 30 minutes before the show. And one of those was in Boston on the Trompe le Monde tour which was like a homecoming gig. The other was at the Fillmore in SF with the Happy Mondays opening (it was either the first or second Mondays gig in the US). Bez had to leave the stage a couple of times to barf during the set as I recall.
