Ryder to Return with Hooky to Brighton

Shaun Ryder played a DJ set in a seafront club in Brighton called 'Holdup' last Saturday night - he apparently got a 4 figure sum but didn't touch the decks himself - Resident DJs played tune's he'd chosen, 'While the big man swigged lager, sweated under a wooly beanie hat and gurned appreciatively. Shaun vowed to return in the summer bringing Peter Hook of New Order with him.' From the Argus (Brighton's local paper), Wednesday February 4th.

now that sounds like a strange DJ set, where you don't DJ yourself!

Nice work if you can get it ! Not that different to miming a PA though, or being on TOTP. If more people come into the club because X celeb is there, it is money well spent by the club !

sounds pretty stupid. what's the point then? are they ryder's records at least? i'm also wondering if hooky's "djing" was from his record collection.

this is a whole new take on the celebrity dj-ing thing. not that i expect these musicians to be the next sasha or john digweed, but geez, at least man the decks yourself.

How was Ryder looking? He was on a C5 documentary last night about Bernard Manning and looked infinitely healthier thna he did on the 24HPP promo documentary a couple of years back.....

if any of you want to check out how shaun ryder is doing then watch channel 4 this sunday night 8th feb they are showing an osbornesque documentary on . they have been following him for the last 8 months as hes gone through re-hab ect in australia where he now lives ,i think???.

what? shaun ryder is still alive??? after watching 24hpp i thought the man has no teeth after all his drugs/alcohol excesses and is going to die in a couple of months

Yeah I couldn't find this programme either, however, BBC 3 did have a documentary on Paul Gasgoine. Maybe the Shaun Ryder piece is part of a season of documentaries featuring various washed up has beens ? Part 1 Paul Gasgoine, Part 2 Shaun Ryder etc - any suggestions for further installments !!
