FYI:

I recently got a cassette called "Very Best of New Order", and I thought it was the previously known tape from Saudi-Arabia. But when adding adding it to my database, I found that it is (for me) a previously unknown compilation from Indonesia (King's Technology K887).

The tracklisting is: Shellshock SOTN Paradise TPK Weirdo BLT This Time of Night Sooner Than You Think SubC Angel Dust Sunrise Broken Promise Way of Life As it is When it Was All Day Long TLU The Beach

The sleeve has a *very* tacky photo of the band... The tape comes in a "Heatproof Safety Pack". Details will be in the next revision of the Discography.

Also: there is an Italian jukebox promo 7" with Regret (AS 5000 955).

I have both this one which I purchased in Bali in 98 and the SA version purchased in Dubai in 94.

Not really worth much but just nice to haves from around the world.

The great thing about these little CS comps is that they cost next to nothing!!

Never liked compilations, just another product to tempt fans with material that has already been released

Being a Malaysian myself, I've managed to picked up both 'pirated' copy of locally produced 'GET READY' & 'INTERNATIONAL' CDs. These are factory pressed CDs with glossy inserts, printed with awful graphics. The 'GET READY' even had 4 bonus tracks - Behind Closed Doors + 3 other Crystal remixes. The sound quality is as good as your standard retail CDs. And this 'GET READY' CD is released by 'M Power' Records while my 'International' CD is released by 'VIGIN - Made in (J)ermany' looks like these Malaysian CD pirates make as much mistakes as Factory Records.

If you cross the bridge into Singapore, you'll easily find it mate! They've got a really good TOWER records there plus a very good HMV...

...been there 8 times and always managed to find some good stuff!!!

Compilations aren't for fans.. you should know that.. they are for people who liked them, but not enough to buy the albums, so they can have all the songs they enjoy over a period of time on the same album...

They are meant for that, but New Order never pushed it to put a new song on them, which would have attracted more people.. (Well, True Faith 94, but that doesn't count)

As Nicos points out, starting the compilation with Shellshock and SOTN hardly endears me to the compilation

then again as its stated compilations are generally for music lovers that want to dip into neworders back catalogue and not have to wade through their albums.

To me their just a waste of money as I have all the tracks in their purest form in anycase.

New Order is practically unknown in Malaysia, just look at the number of NOOLers from Malaysia/Asia

I go home to Malaysia every 2 years and I find the anti-pirating laws there are very fickle if ever exists at all. So you can find lots of pirated CDs ( with unique covers, different tracklistings or bonus tracks ).... but New Order is not high on the list of priority, its hard to find anything at all on them....If you do find PFD pirated DVD, then its probably a fluke....

Anyway, if you are in Kuala Lumpur ( the capital )...go to the night markets in Chinatown, you'll find lots of pirated CDs and DVDs but remember to bargain - I think a pirated DVD should only cost you around US$4 each, CD should be even less....

If you are into hard rock/metal stuff...then go to the PERTAMA COMPLEX in the Malay district in Kuala Lumpur - you'll have a better chance of spotting a New Order item there...but you'll get bombarded with lots of METALLICA, FEAR FACTORY, BLACK SABBATH, NIRVANA along the way...

I'll get more info for you when April gets closer..:thumb:
