It often gets said that there were six members of Joy Division - Ian, Barney, Steve, Hooky, Rob and Mr Hannett. So if we add Gillian into the mix, that makes seven; you've probably got to have Wilson as well as it wouldn't have happened without him, so then you've got to add Erasmus; Saville is pretty much a part of the group (couldn't imagine it without him); then there's Paul Morley and Kevin Cummins who helped bring the band to the world's attention (would they have ever been anything more than a bit of fun without Morley? Aren't most of our images of the band from Cummins's monochrome stills?).

So that makes 12: any more, anyone?

Yeah, I'll go for that. I've also heard Hooky's todger is the size of a draft excluder (its got its own FAC number, too!), so that bumps it up to 14.

Dunno about Robie - don't think he did 'em any favours at all. What about long-serving road crew? Distinctly remember large portions of the crowd at Reading '93 knowing the roadies by name and engaging in a bit of lairy banter....

Robie's got writing credits though, hasn't he?

Robinson, Liddle and Barton are the only three surviving members of their entourage from prior to Get Ready. Suppose you could include Sarge, but then I've yet to meet anyone who was aware of him before 2001. Should perhaps include that Jane bird who was Hooky's bass roadie and Revenge manager, if only cos she's fit.

Dave Pils - roadie from JD days until late 80s.

Terry Mason - bag carrier and groupie tester.

He seems to have been "hanging round" forever, so he definitely counts in the New Order extended family - can someone please clarify what his role in the Factory entourage actually was? Did he have a financial investment?

He was a promoter. Kept going bust after losing money promoting the Fall.
