He runs a production company in Manchester called AAA Productions. They oversee the bookings and ticket sales for New Order tours, as well as other artistic relations. He's a top bloke and very genuine. I got tickets direct from him for the Olympia show in '01 which I passed on to a few lucky Paradise readers. He even gave me a mention in his introduction on stage. The Paradise posse indeed!
No-one call him a fat bastard ever again please, he's an old friend of mine.

Ah, c'mon, friend or no friend, he IS a Fat Bastard!
And so New Order fans have reminded him every time he takes to the stage! ![]()

Yes it is Wise. A younger, thinner Alan! Some good ones yes, pity we don't get more piccys elsewhere.
Anyone recall the c4 documentary by Paul Morley's sister in which she interviews everyone she knew in Mancland during several hazy years of alcohol abuse to try and piece her life back together? Basically, after years of rampant promiscuity and dipsomania she finally realised that she was a degraded wreck when she started shagging none other than Alan Wise!!! Cue snippets of interviews where ex-friends all say stuff along the lines of "I really cared about you, Carol, but when you started fucking Alan Wise that's here I drew the line". Very funny - she interviewed the man himself and he seemed very sentimental (but he probably hoping she do him for old time's sake).
I once reaa a great anecdote about how Nico and John Cooper Clark used to pass their days by shooting up and then trying to squirt flies with the blood in their syringes - so good managemnet skills there, Mr Wise! And only another only tenuously-related note, The Fall and John Cooper Clark play in Aberdeen next month - how's THAT for a double header?!?!?

This seems to get shown every six months or so at some ungodly hour. I don't know anyone who's managed to get their arse in gear to tape it. Morley's sister talks about joining New order in their flat in Hammersmith (was it?) whilst they're recording PC&L or Low-Life (not sure she could remember which?). I remember her and her mate thought they could stop there if they bought gifts - wasn't it Pernod for Barney, Scotch for Hooky, etc? Interesting TV anyways..
The Alan Wise - Nico connection is smartly described in James Young's bio Nico: The Last Bohemian. A very funny book with great anecdotes. Alan Wise = Dr. Dimetriou, Nico's tourmanager with a severe cake addiction.
