Does anyone have a copy of the vinyl bootleg/tape to hand who could check something out for me please ?
Does Barney introduce Everything's Gone Green, and if so, what does he call it ?
Reasons why will be explained later.

Originally posted by Philip Collins It's not introduced on any SO36 recording that I've heard...
yeah, not on mine either.
On the Off The Wall bootleg, the recording seems uninterrupted from the moment the band return on stage to the beginning of EGG, and the only thing I can hear is a German (the taper himself?) saying "Arschloch" (asshole/jerk).
The reason I ask is because Spotnick just had a mail from someone saying they were the promoter at this gig, and saying that Barney introduced the encore as "Do the Auschwitz".....
Just flicked through the video, EGG was the encore - and the video has the break between songs, about 2 minutes before they took to the stage to do EGG, and at no point did Barney say anything before they started playing.
They didn't have a very good association with Berlin did they
So I'm guessing this was another myth started which spread.

Indeed. Comes to somehing when someone claims to have been the promoter at the gig and starts accusing Barney of dubious comments !
A German colleague of mine from when I worked at UEA in Norwich assured me that he saw the band play in Munich in 1982 and that they quite deliberately goose-stepped (in a John Cleese stylee) onto the stage when they emerged.
BTW, I've no time for the "New-Order-are-fascists" debate, but my source is/was pretty reliable (and a huge fan as well), so go figure.....

Aha!! I guess that pisses on my chips (and the pommes frites of my ex-colleague as well)!!! In a vague attempt to restore some credibility, did they play Munich in 1981???
Originally posted by Graham Parker I think they have only played in Munich in 1984.
Bloody hell Parks, the fount of all knowledge ! Suppose you've got a tape of it too ? Never seen one meself, nor has everyone else. Bring it in tomorrow if you have !!
