Hello,

This project has been at the forefront of our minds for a long time and we are delighted that it is finally coming out. The album will be released on April 12th and will include the live video performance of 'Transmission' that New Order recorded and beamed into John Peel's 40th Anniversary party at Radio 1.

Many thanks to everyone who signed the petition. We appreciate the support.

We will also send the album artwork to you as soon as it is approved.

Best regards,

Sue and Holly.

I edited it a little though, can't spoil the surprise :D (what's been edited has nothing to do with the album however)

When someone purportedly from "the group" comes on here and blasts us for our unwavering devotion, then says how sweet it all is really when you think about it? I love that :D

It's a hidden track on my copy of Low Life. I crossed out the track listing.

*So the petition was useful indeed! :thumb: Well done mates! Now just tell them to change the bloody title, it'll be confused in every shop in the world with the Peel sessions! What about something as clear as "BBC 1998-2001"?

make them issue it NOW!

Well yes it is, but no it isn't at the same time. It has never been officially released, but it was broadcast and has been widely available for several years. I shan't be buying a copy, as the copy I already have is as good a sound quality as I want. It's not the same as something we don't have, like a soundboard recording from one of the shows nobody but them has a copy of, is it ?

Well, Reading 98 was broadcasted too, and nobody complained when 316 has been released...

Sure it's not "brand new" material, but it will be nice to have the songs, like Isolation without Gillian's laugh and Your Silent Face without whatever is mixing with it at the end ;)

some people are never satisfied:scratch:. I think it is really great they are releasing it. Of course i do own the mp3's, but the quality is far from superb. I'm especially looking forward to True faith which is a great remake. Maybe as a bonus they could add Temptation 98, which has been recorded in the same period. Very nice :D

Temptation 98 is on the bonus disc of Retro..

I recorded the original Peel show onto minidisc on the night, so the quality is pretty good (plus all the chat), but I didn't know about the other session until after it had happened. I must admit, I'd much rather have a shiny new CD containing properly mastered versions than some crappy mp3, so I'm all for buying it. Plus, lest we forget, presumably New Order will get some kind of royalties for it, which they won't get for the mp3s.

Lots of NO fans won't have decent copies of all the tracks. Besides which, I still actually get a kick out of walking into a real record shop and seeing a new NO product (rip-off or not). That's just how I am, but I wouldn't want everything to be downloadable, free and badly presented.

A part of the thing with NO was the actual presentation of the product, surely? How many polls have there been on here about favourite sleeves, etc?

I will be buying it, and I am really pleased that it's coming out. So :p

C'mon Nicolas. Gillian giggling at the beginning of "Isolation" is the best bit of the song. :D

*We can see it from your avatar, Mr. Bez! :D Anyway, there's no debate about MP3s: we download them ONLY, absolutely ONLY because that stuff isn't released yet. Once it's released, we buy the release anyway. Otherwise we wouldn't be fans, that's quite clear, I hope.

Surely Gillian's laugh is an integral part of that track? If its omitted I shall demand a refund.

Just a quick query. Does this compilation include all the songs that were recorded for these 2 sessions or are there any ommissions?

It includes all the tracks they broadcast. Of course, they could have secretly recorded a double album's worth of other stuff, including covers of all of Jimmy Cliff's singles, but I doubt it! Still, as the "official unofficial" NO site, if I post it it will become fact, perhaps?
