Come on, we all want it! Please visit this link and sign! http://www.petitiononline.com/apmc98/petition.html Remember, a petition was made to release the Radio 1 session from 1998 and 2001, and IT WORKED!!! As you read here Strange Fruit has written to NewOrderOnline.Com to thank those who signed it! It's not useless, it works! It can work with this performance as well, in my opinion even much better than those already released.

Here's the text of the petition:

Please release the video of New Order's concert at the Manchester Apollo, 16 July 1998 Many believe it was one of their best concerts ever. An exciting comeback, after five years of silence, featuring many Joy Division and New Order classics, some in new brilliant versions. An amazing audience in their home city. It's probably the happiest moment for the band and the fans in their 27 years career. It can't remain only treasured in the memories of the lucky few who were there. Every fan has the right to see such a glorious performance, and the band must be proud to release it too. We've been waiting for almost six years, and nobody will ever forget it. About time to release it on DVD and VHS!

Many thanks to everyone who will sign!

Of course I haven't actually got any way to contact London Records, Warners, or the band or the management, so please can you, Nicholas or whoever did it with the previous petitions, or whoever can do it, forward this one? Thank you.

With all these petitions to release various things over the years, it's only a matter of time before Steve and Gillian's sex tape makes its way to DVD :evil4: (only kidding :p )

Just kidding, folks, there is no sex tape of Steve and Gilly...or is there?

If it's from the 80s I'll start a petition as well! :evil4: BUT first, please, vote this... believe me it wasn't a concert like the others, not at all, it was a unique moment in New Order's story... I hope you'll see... and then tell me...

If someone edits both Steve and his chin out, then I'll buy a copy.

Was the Apollo gig filmed?

Is the excerpt from 511 featuring "In a lonely Place" from the Apollo Gig? If so, it will have been filmed.

Yes. Bit of a waste of time requesting a video/DVD of it otherwise, wouldn't you think ?

Isn't this just a blatant attempt to get a gig released which you were actually at, Mick?! :skeptic:

Agreed. A good gig, but there's been plenty of those down the years - Miles Prowse supposedly took footage of all the UK gigs from 98 to 2002 (you can see snippets from Move, Ally Pally, Liverpool and this one on the 511 DVD). It would be better to see a montage of all of those gigs - if he's able to release his footage - rather than focus on any one in particular.

This was one of their best gigs ever? Might have been one of the best in 1998 maybe, but that's as far as it goes.

Thought we discovered after the Move gig that the 2 big projectors werent being recorded?? As basically the whole gig was televised live to the audience.

It still surprises me however to this day if thats actually the case... :skeptic:

Miles taped the whole thing. But it's not footage the likes of Finsbury, it's just handy-cam jobs like you get on the 511 extra bit. Actually, which is how the Apollo would've been also - I certainly don't remember any great rigs swooping over the audience at opportune moments there?

I do remember the camcorder on stage, but they had broadcast cameras on the sides and one on a big rail at the front which went across the stage for the projector feeds. I dont recall any audience shots from the projectors although like most of us at the front I was watching the stage and not the projector screen

tim.

over the years how many gigs got filmed...and how many made it on to the market.

in my time i have had all the official ones and a very good copy of the glastonbury gig and a terrible copy of london town and country.

Mike's the man to ask, I've always had an aversion to bootleg videos on the grounds that the quality is always frustrating, even on the very good ones. Cameras bobbing around and New Order's stage lighting have always made it an inferior medium to me, so I have never bothered collecting them. I've only seen 4 or 5.

The gig itself was an extraordinary event, but having seen clips of this historic event on 511 and regional TV, I have to admit that NO were 'rusty' that night. I'd probably buy it if it were to be released, but I'm not desperate. It's there in my memory.

I remember being really pissed off that i didnt get tickets for it and then city life give it gig of the year but most people i know who went said they were shit. the footage on 511 does seem to back that up IMO. I was at Reading thankfully!!
