The piano in Regret(Fire island mix)

I've been listening to this remix of Regret recently and I happen to like it better than the original, mostly because of the jazz piano. Now, I know Gillian didn't play it, but does anyone know who did, if it just wasn't a bunch of fancy programming? It kind of reminds me of the piano, not played by Chris Lowe, in PSB's "I want a dog," except for that the piano player is mentioned in the linear notes.

(sigh) One day people will realize that one cannot program a synth to sound like a piano player (or any other instrument for that matter) without knowing how to play the instrument. Check out some resources on advanced and realistic MIDI programming...

On another note, I like this remix too. It still doesn't beat the original though. The only remix that may beat the original is the Slow'n'Low mix.

/TLV Actually, I was hoping it was actually someone playing. It would seem rather disappointing that a machine was playing jazz piano.

I'm guessing someone did play it, as it sounds very improvised. They would, however have played it from a MIDI keyboard into a sequencer - with a high enough resolution, and no quantizing, that's the equivalent to "playing it"!

Good call...i love piano playing like this.The most notable for me are indeed the I WANT A DOG and DAVID BOWIE'S ALADDIN SANE track.Absolute class and i have often wondered what has drawn me to this FIRE ISLAND remix.Now i think the penny had dropped.

the piano on the fire island mix sounds exactly like something you'd hear played at a house party on fire island! (new yorkers will know what i mean! ;))

duh, i guess that's why it's called the fire island mix....

I guess you could say that. Or you could say that the mix is about 3 minutes too long...and slightly boring, even with it's Rent undertones.

An edit would be much nicer with some guitar added.

Actually, I like how this remix of Regret is long, since the length makes sense for the piano solo. But, for the Perfecto Remix of World, although I like the beat and the sound, is about 2 minutes too long and too repetitive at points.
