madonna opening for acr. wow! that's almost as odd as nin opening for the wonderstuff. all of us should try to keep this thread on the first page so people can see it. i know it sounds silly, but i don't want it to get lost in the shuffle. i think unless you're a first timer to the forum, people really don't get past the first few pages. april, your cd is waiting for you. where are you?

how come you never mentioned that you were into synths? huntsman just told me to check out another thread about totp2. i guess the thread turned into a whole synth talk thing. i've got a few boards at home as well. let's chat, since it's really just you and i that look at this thread anyways!

Synths, software, recording and all that sort of stuff has always interested me. What's your setup at home? What sort of stuff do you do?
my setup at home? hmmm. i don't like to advertise too much because i get paranoid easily, but i have 6 keyboards, a few synth modules, 2 samplers, and 2 sample players. i have 2 guitars and 1 bass. i also have a bunch of effect pedals. i'm really into my "toys", but really lazy about getting any type of recording gear. lazy may not be such a good word. maybe hesitant is a better word. i just don't know too much about the recording side. i do have my sights on buying a multi-track recorder though. i like the roland vs-1880. i think it's best to say that the music thing for me is a hobby. not sure if i would want to do the whole band thing. have you ever been in a band andy?
when you've seen acr live, what kind of keyboard setups do they have? do you remember what their rig looked like for the "good together" shows?

At the moment I've got Cubase VST running on a 667MHz Pentium for hard disk recording, an Akai S3000XL, a JD800, an old TX81Z Yamaha module all mixed through a Mackie 1604. As I can now burn straight to CD I don't use my DAT so much but it's there just in case...
I did the group thing and would advise anybody considering it to give it a go as I can guarantee that you will have an absolute scream. It's such a laugh it's untrue! I played guitar in the mid 80's for a group described as a 'Sheffield-type band' by the local music press (by 'Sheffield-type' I mean like Chakk and the Cabs). To be honest, we wanted to sound like Gang Of Four during their 'Is It Love' stage but couldn't quite get that polished sound. Then in 90/91 I played bass in an indie type band and did quite a few local gigs and had such a laugh - really good times - loads of lager consumption!
Since then I've mainly concentrated on full on 4 to the floor US style garage, a little bit of 2 step/UK garage and various types of House stuff.
i've only played with the jd-800 a few times for a complete 10 minutes if it came down to it. loved the design. wasn't too impressed with any of the presets though. it wasn't until i met this guy who had a expansion card for his jd, that i was totally impressed. can't remember what card it was, but i remember the pad sound that i fell in love with. maybe i'll get a jd-990. i do have a jv-2080 with 5 expansion cards and it's great. i also have a mackie 1604. i bought it used for about $340. i've got to clean it so i can get rid of all those static "crunchies" out of it. my samplers are akai. i used to have an emulator 2+hd, but sold it. big mistake to sell it, but i kept some of my favorite disks that can play on my sample player.

Maybe :) What sort of stuff do you play? There's been a couple on Cleveland City, one on Smokin' Beats and a self-financed one.
I'd love to remix a New Order track but I have no idea how to get hold of the accappellas other than begging the record company for them. Anybody got any accappellas?

I've got the accapella to 'Confusion'.It's on a 12" I picked up at Easton Bloc records back in 1991.The accapella goes on for 1min 17 secs,and features verses , chorus and chanting.The other mixes listed are: Alternative Mix 5min 30 sec
Essential Mix 5min 10 sec
Trip 1-Ambient Confusion 3min 40 sec
Con-om-fus-ars-ion Mix 7min 5sec
Confused Ooh-Wee Dub 6min 50sec
The label this was released on is Minimal Records. I assume this to be a legitimate release as the remix production supervisor was Arthur Baker.
BTW,I've got Force and Good Together by ACR.Great band.

Would a good quality tape be ok as both my DAT machines are buggered.Bloody unreliable shitty crap!! Never buy cheap DAT machines,especially Sony ones.

'Shack Up' was originally a Banberra track written by Carter and Daniel.
The gig around the time of the release of 'Twenty Four Hour..' is just a rumour at the moment. Maybe when www.acrmcr.com gets fully up and running it might have some more news.
Are ACR making a comeback? It's like 1989 all over again. Probably seen ACR as many times as NO if not more. The best I saw them was at the Subterrannia about the time they released the 4 For The Floor EP - it was fucking excellent and as I remember they opened and finished with Be What You Wannabe.
I must dig out my acr/mcr t-shirt that glows in the dark...
