It's, if I remember correctly, a photo of a ball bearing or something like that. I'll see if I can dig out the official description I found a long time ago, where Barney explained what it was.
A "ball bearing" blimey! thats some fucked up looking ball bearing!! be interesting to see what Barney had to say about it cheers! ![]()
Got it. It came from the same book that Bernard found the scream that was used for Unknown Pleasures, and is a photo of a ball bearing being dropped through an electric current. The 12" sleeve features time-exposuresof a fairground at night, and was photographed by Charles Herring.
Ahhh! nice one :)
Those old sleeves are fantastic imo :)
was Barney a bit of a science boff then reading these books!? ;)
He wanted to use my avatar, but I told him to stop meddling in the future and sod back off in his time machine back to 1979

*He was interested in astronomy and had some skills to build synths...

As stated, the back of the sleeve is the ball bearing picture, the front is definitely astronomical, but I don't know what!
Yep, the back cover's the ball bearing image - apparently a typically arty Factory trick - putting the most striking image on the back of a cover, making it a "novelty", in keeping with the B-side. Fcuking Wilson...
