can anyone give us the definitive answer on their second ever gig? was it at brady's liverpool or the warehouse preston? was anyone there?

Some people must have been there ! I think it was Liverpool first and then Preston. No doubt that the Beach Club was first.

yes I was referring to NEW ORDER'S second gig (after the beach club). it seems to be preston according to most of the online references but then WIM and new-order.net have it that it's brady's liverpool. I'm sure someone attended but which is the real deal?

I had thought that "Brady's Liverpool" was the correct answer, but now it doesn't seem very clear.

The History In Cuttings list has Brady's in August, while WIM has Brady's on 04 Sep 80... original WR had "Warehouse Preston, 04 Sep 80". My updated WR, based on Tim's input (see thread URL above) has Brady's on 04 Sep 80, in accordance with WIM, but now Tim's saying he thinks there was a Preston gig *after* the Brady's gig, but of course Scamps Blackpool was the one right after. Could the Brady's gig have been a rescheduling for Preston Warehouse, as both venues are in Lancashire and thus close to one another?

well to my knowledge new order never played preston warehouse and the venue was pulled down around the early 80s,chorley tatton comunity centre is probally the nearest gig geographicaly to the old warehouse that they played,they did however play the preston guildhall about 5 years later.

"After" doesn't necessarily mean the day afterwards, does it ? It means, at least it does the way I meant it, that a Preston gig may have taken place fairly soon after the Liverpool one. On the other hand, it may not have done.

Yeah, that thought occured to me. Oh, I didn't know that Brady's was in fact the same location that once housed the famous Eric's (was rechristened in 1980 it seems).

I found a tidbit that suggests that the Brady's gig may not have taken place (at least prior to the Scamps gig), or else the LTM folks are mistaken. (emphasis mine)

There's an amusing tidbit about how Tunnelvision was asked to support a "Music For Pleasure" (a local band of the era) but refused because the pay for so low. Wonder if that's where Monaco got the name of their album from.
