How involved is Gillian on the new album?

She's no longer in the band it seems, so her involvment might have been only doing tea for the others.
Although, nobody knows for sure, how could she possibly do nothing when the band was writing at her place!!
She has pre-ordered a copy of the new album from Amazon, along with a copy of "How to be a mother while leading a second life (as a musician)".:D
She's bound to have some contribution. Is phil now a full member of the band? Will he be in publicity shots etc, i wonder.
- Gillian is no longer in the band.
- Phil is not a permanent member. The band now has three permanent members.
- There is no such thing as permanent, this is New Order.

PERMANENT has a nice ring to it!![]()
Someone to play keys as well I hope, I don't want Get Ready 2 ![]()
(Not that it was all bad mind, but now that they've "rawked the fook out" a little, they should write another cracking dance 12")

Yes, it sounds vaguely familiar.

OOH Gillian
I was just gonna say that she is involved in 'EXTRACIRICULAR' ways...but that darn SLIPPY beat me to it!!!
She, erm.....pleasures Stephen enough to be the creative genius behind the root sound of the album...![]()
wether gillian is involved or not,my guess is she could walk in or out of the band at will. lets face it she has been with them longer than ian?,and contributed more in terms of input as well. i reckon she will have some input in the new set as she did in the get ready sessions, and im sure many here would agree that new order without her just dont feel the same.

Sound-wise, I don't think it matters whether she's in the band or not. Really, she just plays a few guitar lines or a few chords on the keyboard, and that's about it. I see it similar to when D'Arcy left Smashing Pumpkins. Sure, on the Sacred+Profane tour, they looked different with Melissa Auf Der Maur on bass, but they didn't sound much different. New Order, with Phil Cunningham, sounds similar, although they appear different on stage. Now, with SP, when Jimmy Chamberlin left, the sound changed and the band couldn't find a decent replacement drummer - and even used a drum machine on some tracks for Adore. If Steve left, no doubt, the sound would change drastically.
I think there's quite some difference with Phil. Can't say always better or worse, but many songs sound different, especially the guitar.
Having Phil around, recording or just for touring, will definately push the band into a more guitar based sound. Or they can prove me wrong ![]()

Agreed; it's just not the same. Hope she's able to rejoin the band at some stage.
Something seems to have got lost in translation somewhere along the lines here.
Once and for all, for the last time.....
GILLIAN HAS LEFT THE BAND, AND IS NO LONGER A MEMBER OF NEW ORDER.
According to the rest of them, that is. If anyone who posts on here knows any different to that, then say so. Alternatively you can keep on speculating until the cows come home.
