Everyone will have a different opinion on this, but what is the rarest OFFICIAL New Order release to get hold of? No promos or bootlegs, just stuff that was released to buy.

Its probably the Run 2 12",but my mate reckons its easy to come by-20,000 i say thats rare.

What do you think.

You sure it was a promo? I'm not doubting you...but merely confirming.

Does JD Count? Cuz the Hessian version of STILL is quite rare(I thinks)...and of which I am a PROUD owner.

Assuming that you don't want to hear about mis-presses and obscure compilations, the CDVs are pretty rare, and so are the DATs (Substance and Technique). The Peter Saville Soundtrack is relatively limited as well - I'm not sure if you'd count that though. Also, the US 7" of BLT b/w Every Little Counts may be a lot rarer than what people expect... I'm sure there are others - can't think of them of the top of my head.

Of course, rarity is a subjective term - I was aiming for the rarity as defined by number of copies made...

I own number 50 of the PROMO of SUBSTANCE.It does have the writing on the back which states"NOT FOR RESALE UNLESS DESPERATE" or words to that effect. Therefore it is a PROMO.1000 made.I should think that the DAT's are really scarce.Hell..i don't have them and nearly had to smash the display cabinet at SAVILLE's exhibition to get one.But i have always collected to get what i consider to be GREAT items with the different tracks or different COVERS.From a value point of view i don't bother cos i don't want to sell so i ain't looking to make money. But as i have said in the past if i can get hold of any items YOU consider RARE or just want they seem to be freely available up NORTH and i am sure our INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY could benefit from time to time from this offer.Mainly promos and old FACTORY records are still easy to find. The other week an entire FACTORY collection from CEREMONY to TECHNIQUE was available on a car boot sale in PRESTON. Cheers ROCKET MICK :thumb:

Gatefold Substance, defo 1000 made, defo given away free by Factory to employees, associates and reps.

That means the Run2 7" must be twice as rare, because there are only 500 of them.

You obviously don't keep track of EBAY considering I picked up the Technique DAT for £7 about a month ago!

No promos? Ah, I see.

Linen box Substance cassette was reportedly only 2000 copies, but never seen that officially verified.

I found the metallic edition Brotherhood vinyl harder to come by than linen box Substance, gatefold Substance, CDVs, Run 7" and 12". Actually found some of the regular 7"s are a little scarce now, like Confusion.

Now. As for the original Blue Monday 7"...

You obviously don't keep track of EBAY considering I picked up the Technique DAT for £7 about a month ago! You are indeed correct.A fact is i have never bought an item on E-BAY.Goes back to me wanting to track down RARE items IN THE FLESH so i can see the actual MINTY MINT condition of them. But now i think it is time to get into REALTIME buying.I know standards may drop but i do wish to own some goodies that will never be seen in shops AGAIN.It is just old habits die hard.Having said this i have used EIL,KEYMAIL ORDER and several other online dealers when they used to advertise in the RECORD COLLECTOR.So i will just have to take a chance.RUN 7 inch is another i own but it is a PROMO.The FACTORY BENELUX PERFECT KISS although not rare are one of the best COVERS project that has been done.DON was impressed with these when he came SHOPLIFTING at PLANET ROCKET.He claims i gave him LATE AT NIGHT CD promo in the nice plastic wallet with sticker. But i know the truth. CARRY ON COLLECTING:thumb:

I have a spare copy of the Technique DAT if you're interested in a trade.

You probably won't count this, but the Canadian tribute Thieves Like Us is the only release I've looked for that I couldn't find. I'd give my left testicle for a copy. :jawdrop:
