Had Ian Curtis not topped himself, do you think Joy Division would have followed the same path as New Order, i.e. synth/electronic scene?

Ricardo?

I believe I did a thread on this a long while ago, would be nice to bring it back!

Seeing as half of Closer was very heavily synthesised, I'd say that they were already going down that route. From a band who threw the toys out the pram when Hannett applied synths to songs just a year before, they were quick learners.

Yeah definitely. Its no secret Ian was a big fan of Kraftwerk & Isolation is more like New Order than anything on Movement. I dont think they would have been the same sound though, probably a little darker. They would sound shite remixed though-can you imagine it,a trance mix of atmosphere or hip hop version of decades.

Yes, you did. In the French forum: Et si Ian Curtis était vivant....

Oh, wait. There's another one in this forum too. Joy Division in the 2000 :D

Sometimes I think that everything about New Order has already been discussed here and I could reply all current threads only with links to old stuff.

We need new songs to discuss something new! :p

What if Ian had done something worse than top himself....like joining A Flock of Seagulls?

(my undying admiration to anyone capable of putting together a composite photo of Ian with "the Flock" :D )
