Peter gave a brilliant un-rehearsed talk at Urbis on Thursday night. 'I will just answer your questions because if we cover 25 years we will be bored and still here on Saturday!!!!!' He admitted he designed the covers without listening to the completed tracks with the cover needing to be ready before the cut. The one exception being 'Republic' when he had the final tape for 3 months and listened to it in Llandudno for inspiration. For those who don't know LLandudno is a small seaside town next to Snowdonia mountain range (Internatinal cover?)in North Wales which he loves:love2: Worring though he admitted he has retired from album covers:cry: I had a chat with him later and asked him did the guys in New Order know this? He said they had not spoken to him about it yet. Hope he continues or comes out of retirement! New Order without Saville. Dosn't bear thinking about. What do you think!!

Ps There were some right profiteers asking him to sign 4 or 5 items who definatly appeared suspect. I bet e-bay will soon be hot!!!!! Peter is a legend and has now been appointed art director by Manchester City Council to create a new identity for the city . Lets see what we get. Cool im sure:thumb:

nice review. he has been touting about the "retirement" thing for a while now, but i seriously doubt he would turn down a neworder cover - at least i hope not :\ohwell:

LLandudno=International? Never in a million years,& he wants to make his mind up about Republic if thats what he said, cos he said originally that it was inspired by his time working in LA. If you read the sleeves on the past few releases he doesnt do them now anyway does he? I thought nowdays Wakefield just got his approval.

Very luckily Saville is not alone, he has left quite some disciples in his studio who have learnt a lot from him, I'm sure some of them could come up with some good design for the next cover (they'd also be more excited about doing it and hence deliver a great result), though of course the original would be the best.

Wait a fookin minute!!! From the other site:

Peter Saville has been appointed just a week before creative director for the City of Manchester. One of many things he wants to do is to commission a statue of Ian Curtis for St Annes Square.

It's April's Fool, rrright?! :skeptic:
