The only truth : any help

I've got a copy of the only truth by Paul Haig : i've always thought Barney was playing the guitar parts on it. Is this true or did he just produce it without playing. The guitar certainly sounds like him. Anybody know for sure?

I've always thought that Paul Haig had a guitar style similar to Barney's anyway, so it is likely that Barney just produced it rather than playing as well. Some of the Josef K stuff in particular has got a very Hannett, rather than Barney feel to it, Malcolm's influence maybe. I'll see what I can find out, but don't have a more definitive answer at the moment, sorry.

"The Only Truth" is my favorite. Definitivly Barney played that wonderful guitar. Credited on Paul Haig's 2nd LP "The Warp of Pure Fun" also "Love & War" guitar by Barney. Sorry, I'm not good at English.

Well, I've spent the last 20-odd years convinced it was Barney, but it wasn't. The following is from the sleeve notes to "Cool As Ice":

'After splitting post-punk great white hope Josef K in the summer of 1981, enigmatic frontman Paul Haig persued a career path rooted in dance and intelligent pop. Recorded in Manchester, The Only Truth welds slap bass and Chic-ey guitar (played by Haig) to classic electro beats, and originally appeared as a 12" single on Crepuscule in 1984'.

"The Only Truth" has two guitar parts. Chic-ey guitar(Chords)...played by Mr. Haig(It's skillful). Single string part...played by Barney(not so skillful).

Thanks for your help. Can I recommend Paul Haig to anyone and everyone, who likes mid 80's style electronics + some top tunes.
