Hello all! hey this might be the wrong forum to post this on... but i'd really love some info... does anyone kno the story behind the symbol on the cover of the first 'Blue Monday' release? The one that looks a little like a seperated 'female' symbol? Mwah!

Someone will be along quite soon, experts a bit like British buses 'round here, go a while without one and then at least two at the same time,
Anyway, hello and welcome .
By the way, would you happen to know the collective height of New Order , in fathoms ? Toodle pip. :D

It was supposed to look like a 5.25" floppy disc, Saville saw one at the studio when Blue Monday was being recorded.

Must admit, I thought everyone knew that!! ;)

Why weren't the the videos for "Run" and the original 1982 version of "Blue Monday" shown at all?
Michaela has just entered the forum, and she's 21. She was probably 4 or 5 years old when the last 5" floppies were still around before being replaced for good by the actual ones. Of course you can understand why she didn't recognized them...

I don't think Blue Monday's 1983 track had an official promo video?! I think it was just some thrown together footage. The first real video was Confusion - or so you would of thought as the first track on the Substance 1989 video is that one!
BTW does anyone know whether Thieves Like Us had a video?
Told you Michaela , no experts at all, then a rush of them.
Yet all pretty silent on the fathoms front ![]()

How many fathoms?
Everything you needed to know fathom wise was there for almost ten minutes Slippy, also details of saturdays expected guest list in fathom type code of course . chin-chin

Her age and whether she's seen one is not the point! That explanation has been given a million times, all I'm saying is that it's probably number one on the list of "Well Known Facts" about New Order. OK, maybe number two after their names...

So that was Barney and Hooky then, plus at least two of the Mondays, Johnny Marr and Andy Rourke ?

Where does this guest list info come from?
Our Gary is involved with the Mancunian inner musical sanctum, he's given us enough pointers before.....
Scratch Hooky from the earlier list.....
And allow for the unreliability factor as previously mentioned. I'll be stage right , Mrs garymac further back , she likes the BOTW, it's more of a reunion with some of her mates ,though she may have a little bop
Gary can you mail us please re. gigs in Manchester ? Nowt to do with New Order, not after privy info.
Sure, but do you mean gigs to watch or gigs for yourselves to play ? Or both, sorry to be a bit muddled .![]()
Gigs for us to play, I need to know the names of the people I need to send demos to, whether there are any promoters who cover a range of venues or whether I need contact individual venues direct, that sort of thing. I've been doing the London homework, but don't know as much about the Manchester scene.
Right , I'll put something together and get it to you, I'd like to have a chat with some old mates first, about any pitfalls as well as decent stuff. One of the guys I used to do a lot of stuff for has moved to Belgrade to build a network of small to medium venues up, he'd have been ideal for your purposes 'cos he covered Liverpool as well. However I wont throw a patchwork of stuff together and fob you off with that, I'd rather take my time if thats okay , I know Bolton / Farnworth has a couple of pub venues which are well supported, couple of guys out of squeeze were there recently, be nice to have a date in M/cr and follow it with something like that, to balance the cost and logistics out. So a lack of e-mail dont mean I've forgotten, but I'd be happy to help

*Let's say number 50 or something. :D I've read about it only a couple of times, so no wonder if someone else hasn't. Not every New Order fan has such a wide knowledge and they must not be afraid of asking easy questions...
