I was watching the nightly 80's video show on VH1 here in the states and guess what comes on right after Huey Lewis (preceded by golden earring)...none other than our own Round and Round video!!

Observation #1: The video holds up surprisingly well. The production quality and concept were light years ahead of videos that almost certainly had substantially larger budgets...

Observation #2: It reminded me of what really captured me originally about NO and has kept me a fan for roughly 20 years. The entire package from music, lyrics, artwork, videos (haircuts excluded here) was and is really unique. I hate to say it but with songs like Rock the Shack and Hooky talking about the new stuff being like Iggy Pop meets New Order...dunno if I care for that whole attitude. Round and round didn't sound like anything but New Order...BM, BLT, TPK were all very original but still clearly NO. Nothing is ever truly completely original...but why intentionally try to copy/blend a sound??

  1. Twisted Tenderness (the album) has really grown on me. I think that lyrically and musically (TT the song aside) it is much stronger than Get Ready...I know that is blasphemous but whatever...

well, IMHO you can´t fully understand Get Ready if you don´t listen to TT too. i think they´re a combo. they fit well together.

I wouldn't say that... Twisted Tenderness IS good, but it still has weak tracks, but I'd be quite happy if Vivid, Prodigal Son, Twisted Tenderness would have been New Order song.

Can New Order actually do a track like Prodigal Son :confused2:

Sure thing is that I'd kill myself if they would cover Steve Winwood  or BREAKDOWN.....

I always called the Round&Round video the "anti-video." It is a clear attempt by the band to take a piss at the video business and enrage record labels.

I don't want to be a nitpicker here, but you mean The Professional (aka. Leon) with a very young Natalie Portman, right? It just happens to be one of my fav flicks. Luc Besson rules.

Watching the Arsenal Man U semi final today, the Man U fans were singing something to the tune of LWTUA

On a late night video review program when the panel reviewed this video they said that bands with no female members shouldnt be able to feature women in the video!

apart from the complete bollards behind this thinking it just goes to show how high the profile of the band was. what did they think gillian is?

that's just proof that some people don't have a fucking clue...

Videos are shiite. Why else would NO try to keep them in the spirit of art rather then promotion.
