I hit 30 today, and yesterday made the mistake of going to see "Shaun of the Dead" in a deeply hungover state: not nice watching a film about the horror of realising you've pissed your twenties away on the eve of your 30th birthday (though worth seeing for the great New Order reference). It all rang a bit too true for my tastes....

So, does life begin at 30 or is it all downhill from here?

Happy 30th mate and don't worry about it.It was all downhill for me since the age of FIVE so i wouldn't let this milestone get to you.You will see that you don't change at all and what you do in your 20's you will carry on doing in your 30's .So no hope for you then.:p Enjoy and drink  in large quantities. It worked for me!:D Regards ROCKET MICK

Happy 30th, who said you cant piss away your 30's too ?

To say life begins at 30,40 , 50 etc is to say you haven't had a life yet anyway. Watched Shaun of the Dead yesterday myself with the Mrs and our Joe, really enjoyed it

There's a great scene where two characters are forced to use vinyl records to try and decapitate zombies. They then argue over which vinyl is expendable - they save "Lovesexy" and "Sign o' the Times", but use the "Batman" soundtrack as a weapon; then one pulls out a 12" copy of "Blue Monday" - it's then flung with Simon Pegg screaming "No!!!! That was an original pressing!!!!"; then they agree that "The Stone Roses" cannot be used, then haggle over "The Second Coming" with Pegg complaining when his mate chucks it, "Well, I like it!!".

Very funny.

Congrats on the slow ending of your life, sir. I have a mere nine years before I join the thirtysomething club (no, not the one rabidly dedicated to that TV show). Drink more, think less...that's how to handle birthdays.

30's not that big a deal, really. Everyone makes out that you'll suddenly have a complete change of personality on that birthday but I don't think anyone does. Still, what do I know? I'm only in my 20s! Seriously, though, have a great birthday and go as nuts as you possibly can.

It's all a matter of quality, Doc. I was really afraid of reaching that 3 as the first number of my age... you have no more excuses, you aren't even a late twentysomething anymore, you aren't young at all anymore, you're just a fookin adult!!! BUT, guess what, I just realised, when I had my 30th birthday that I was much, much happier at 30 than I was at 20. That's what matters. If you feel good your age doesn't matter, there are a lot of teenagers feeling shit and a lot of fortysomethings happy with their lives... :thumb: Happy Birthday

really... there is nothing good about growing old...... it sucks.... you have about 5 more decent years ... then plan on a way to grow old gracefully, hopefully having lived and loved by then..... listen to Technique... in a few years you will feel Regret

I've been going to Stoke since I was 10. It's why I look as haggard as I do!!

 My sentiments exactly - I have pissed up every penny I've had since being a young whipper snapper, this is SURE to continue into me 30's.

Hope you had a good birthday Mr Claypidgeon;) I hit the magical 3-0 next year.

That is frightening Shug. It doesn't seem 5 minutes since I had a bootleg list request letter from a Master Hugh Sludden.....

Aha!! Does this mean that the stress involved in the obsessive pursuit of a tape of that elusive Belgrade gig from 1982 causes premature ageing???

Which begs the question: are New Order bad for you????

New Order most definitely bad for you - that was 15 years ago I wrote that tape request list to Tim.....still waiting on the fookin tapes:evil4:

After consulting with my conscience - me being a good catholic lad and all that, I have decided I will not slag Tim for being a cunt:D

Easy tiger, my reply was a joke. No twattish reply at all. I only mentioned it because I found the envelope the other day with all my old tape trading correspondence.
