well the seller sold a 12" of it recently so maybe it's a home-made cd-r

It's possible a few DJ promos could have been made featuring the original 1983 artwork and tracks to accompany the 88 or 95 re-releases - it would have been a nice 'item' to own.

Nevertheless, I think we'd know about it by now, wouldn't we, what with all these online discographies and forums. Gotta be a bootleg.

Then again, if it also had the two original seven inch versions of 'Blue Monday' and the seven inch edit of 'The Beach', I'd be interested... Way to expensive getting that Japanese 7" on Ebay, and only Hooky is meant to have the original Factory 7 inches now (if they even exist).

looks very dodgy to me too,could be the later version issued aledgedly on rough trade . one of my german friends said he actually had a cd copy of bm83 but i never believed him. who knows,could be legit. i wouldnt like to bid on it though! lets see how much some mug pays for it! regards

Asked him about it, requesting year released, catalogue number, and details of whether it is a pressed CD or a CD-R. Got this response:

It is just a promo sent to me via the post about 2 yrs ago when I was working locally as a DJ,there was paper work, but it has been lost over the years,all there is left is the CD,case and cover,no catalogue numbers.sorry.

Definitely a boot, then! Do not buy. Bet someone will get it for god knows how much anyway!

my german mate from berlin says that the cd is legit and carries the rought trade cat no of prortd73. still sounds dodgy to me. i'm just waiting for him to send a pic of the cd etc to confirm wether its legit or not . will let you know. regards

There IS a Everythings Gone Green cd single. Benelux issue isnt it? True Faith must be the VCD. As for this i think it could be suspect,but who knows for sure these days!

This guy says there isn't a catalogue number. Besides, we have these two versions on CD on Substance, so anyone buying it (legit or not, and I suspect not) would be paying bucketloads of money just for a paper insert inside a CD single case!

True Faith would be the CDV and EGG the Benelux reissue.

The difference between these and this Blue Monday is that many of us have these and their existence is otherwise well-documented. We've never seen nor heard of a reference to this pressing, however limited.

The other guys you want in on this discussion are TLV and Seb Luetzow who is the Fac Australia guru but I believe resides in Germany. If it was a weird German Rough Trade promo issue he might know of it.

The smart money's still on a CD-R.

I agree. I got the same identical response (copy'n'paste) when I asked the seller if it was a CDR. Besides, why would anyone send a promo of BM83 to some unknown (?) DJ in 2001/2 (about two years ago)? To promote International? Doesn't make sense.

CDR seems most likely, definitely. Even a "proper" CD bootleg would probably have come to our notice before now, as that would suggest production in numbers, rather than a one off.

Still, it's got us all wondering hasn't it, so 10 out of 10 for that!
