In Session - Shock and Awe

Don't post often enough, sorry. Thought I had to chime in and for no reason in particular simply state that the In Session CD is brilliant.

I'm flattened every time I hear their rendition of Isolation from the Peel Session, and the rejigged Touched.

There are times I want to *live* inside a New Order song. Like Your Silent Face for example. Very defining.

Dennis, great to see you here as well! Yeah, the Session CD is amazing, one of the best records I have, I mean 25 years of history in 9 audio tracks and 1 video! I adore the new versions of True Faith and Isolation, and Slow Jam is much better than on Get Ready. I find funny how Touched By The Hand Of God is simply titled Touched... a bit weird... also the album title is mistery, it was first announced actually as In Session, but then it did seem it was being released as The Radio 1 Sessions, it was a bit surprising finding it in the shop still titled In Session...

I agree with you. I'm amazed how much I've enjoyed this disc. There's a real sense of musicianship that shines through, perhaps it's the 'old pro' coming out of the lads.

Roll on new album.

god it's good! fantastic. it sounds so well produced and does not sound like it was played in a session. i am in "awe". :D

Am I the only one who thinks the percussion is off (slow) on Close Range? Is that just the sound of the room creating an echo or is Steve playing too slow? The drums definitely sound off to me. Can't comment on the True Faith feedback but i'm having a hard time adjusting to the drums on Close Range. All in all, this is a great disc. All of New Order's Peel Sessions have been fantastic though.

it keeps going terribly out of sync. whether it's the computer i don't know

Even though I like it, I've always found Close Range to be a really claustrophobic sounding tune and it sounds a little messy live. This version's no different.

First I must say I love this cd! The only thing that would have made this better is if Transmission was Audio so I can listen to it in my car. (Well I guess I do have it from the next, but still) And for the people who hate this cd, it must be very dark in your world.

Close range is by far the best track. This is the verson Barney wanted on get ready, and this is the verson that should have been on get ready. They should have made this song a single for this cd.

Paradise is also fabulous. Because of this version the song made it into my top 5 new order songs. Also should have been a single.

True Faith is good, but not as good as the original. Still nice to have the new version on cd. Even if Barney sounds nasel in it.

Isolation and Atmosphere were done perfect. It's like getting 2 new songs on the cd.

Touched is great. Now I consider the song finished. I was never a big fan of the song, but after hearing this version live in Vancouver (Wow) It sounded great!

Your silent face was done great. Sounds much better since Barney got better singing.

Slow jam & rock the shack are good to, but nothing special.

I bought the CD, nice recording and all that, but why do they feel they need to do old stuff in session....much as I love the versions of YSF, paradise, etc, can't help but think its a kind of desperate move for a band 'getting on'. Don't think much of the 'new' versions of True faith and touched, why can't they just leave them alone and move onto new stuff, (as they did with some of the get ready songs)rather than trying to re-record/update existing songs to make them sound erm, less dated.....the original of TF sounded timeless anyway.

The other half remarked that Isolation sounded cheesy, and she wasn't saying that based on a hearing the JD original. Have to agree there as well, most JD songs just don't sound right with Barney on vocals.

Anyway, all this has probably been debated ad nauseam previously...
