What is your favorite version of The Perfect Kiss?

I prefer 'Kiss of Death' as it is in Substance. I don't know if it's really the same one as on the 12" b-side.

The live version from the video shoot, on disc 5 of retro.

? Whats wrong with the 40 seconds thats missing from the end... The extra 44 sec. tends to get a bit repetitive, I think. It has a better build-up, climax, and fall-away without the extra bit.

am i alone in thinking that tpk is an over rated, overproduced (for the time) pile of shit?.:skeptic:

are not most of these studio versions (not counting the "live" video) just edits of the same track?

and they never remade, or (as far as i know) let anybody remix it, if you don't count the B side, which is sort of a remix by the engineer to some extent i believe, but they have left this song alone since.

and what about "the perfect pit"? i bet most would hate that if they ever heard it. they shoulda put it on Retro just to piss people off... but I liked that short little track back then...:)

Sign me up for the FAC321 version as well, as well as its edit! I always thought the Glastonbury '87 version of TPK was massive as well.

A little harsh maybe :evil4: But I do agree. I've never been a massive fan of this song its one of those songs that has dated terribly. No amount of remixing could possibly bring this song up to date! :uhoh:

The Substanec version gets my vote. The Low-Life one's all wrong with the last verse missing.

Glastonbury 87 is really good EXCEPT after the last verse, the perfect pit section, the guitar comes in way to freakin distorted and shits out the sound quality for a moment. Like the dude at the sound board got his sleeve caught on a knob as he reached for a beer.

That and the annoying faggot with the whistle.

I've always had a problem the way that song was mixed too. During Gillian's mad synth part near the end of the song, we can barely hear it, where it should be screaming out of the speakers. At that point, I watch the definitive video version to show how it should always be done live.

Isn't referrring to to someone as a faggot on a New Order board a bit ironic, seeing as how New Order got a lot of their influences from early 80s and late 70's GAY DISCO!

For some reason, in the UK, New order fans are very macho. The male ones anyway.

As for the fellow who referred to the whistle blower as a faggot, no offense taken, I just thought it was funny.

I dont like the Glastonbry verson of TPK because Barney fucks the vocals all up.

The video version and the version from Cleveland 89 are my faves.

Favourite mix is the Hot Tracks mix, it's a beaut.

Zach, we conducted a poll in the OT forum. Seems most of us are teste load hetros with a lust for well endowed females.

As for the whistle, it is between every damn song at that gig. Pick up a copy of the BBC NO Live cd and listen. Then again I bring a laser pointer to gigs.
