....and New Order feature around the 70s with the first Apollo gig in 2001, which goes to show what a bunch of tossers they are at "Q" 'cos that was the weakest show I caught on that tour! Bloody appaling sound which they only fixed about two thirds of the way through.
Joy Division are in there somewhere as well: think it might have been a gig at The Factory.....
(NB - 'best ever' is Radioyaaaaaaawwn at Glastonbury in 1997....)
Yeah, Joy Division's April '80 gig at the Osborne Club/Factory II is in there (amazing since no-one can refer to a tape to vouch for its quality), and the Bury riot is in the "I want my money back" section: nice.
Also amused to see so many gigs from the last 6 months to make it in there - must have been a strenuous process, whittling down all those classic performances!

That'll be the July '79 Factory I/Russell Club gig then!Aye, closer inspection of the box set reveals this to be so. It does surprise me that there are no tapes of this gig, being the last JD one in MCR.
Other highlights of the 'best [ahem] 100 gigs' include Echo & The Bunnymen playing the Outer Hebrides [#92] Madonna fiddling with her twat [#38]and [#06] David fooking Gray [#47] and Bob Marley's breakthrough gig at the Lyceum only at #72! I only made it to one gig on the list (Spike Island [on the Beautiful South guestlist since you ask])
I think I was at a few of those "best 100 gigs" as they seemed to have quite a few manchester gigs in there (lazy journo contributor lives in manc?) and I don't think any of them would be on my best gigs list. I mean if you're going to have new order at the apollo at least pick the right one! no-one would disagree that their 'comeback' 98 show was one of their finest moments.

Apollo98 was my 1st Neworder gig and I was lucky to be on the front row between Barney & Hooky. Got crushed to f*ck but it was a dream come true when the played a coupla JD tracks.
Yup, I guess I have to say this one was pretty special to me.
