Just seen this thread and while I'm as intrigued as the next person I gotta say it's a fooking daft idea putting this on line.

The band will get wind of this and I doubt we'll get anymore public airings now till the album is nearing completion.

Think on.

Exactly. It's more likely to reinforce any negative feelings they may have towards NOOL. Though it would be nice to hear the track, and all the other new ones, let this be when they are ready to let us have them. Advertising that someone has snuck a minidisc recorder into a bloody DJ set is asking for trouble.

at this point, New Order should be counting their blessings that they still have fans who want to hear new material. them getting pissed about someone posting the mp3 of a minidisc recording (not even soundboard) would be ridiculous. How many copies of the next album do you think they'll sell? 200,000 worldwide? Maybe. Their not going to lose a single sale by having that recording posted here.

Is there a PROMO which i can buy yet?I am sure that the band would be happy for me to buy such an item as they have ALLOWED this in the past!So come on now just tell ROCKET when the fcuk these tracks are going to be available.:DMeanwhile if any of you want a copy of the minidisc just go to MYDODGYPOSTMAN.CON(:p) and you can have a copy.:thumb:

I'm with the Trapezoid on this one.

Surely it's a little paranoid to think that the band or their management would take too much exception to this? I mean we're talking about what sounds like a very rough mix of an unfinished future track. These kind of promos can only increase the hype amongst hardcore fans of what's to follow. I alone bought over 30 singles, album variations, promos, alternate formats, etc of Get Ready era stuff and I can't imagine the band would be so concerned if I got my hands on this. It's not as though I could've been at the gig.

If it's going to get Spotnick into hot water then let's distribute it privately. We're the ones who keep this band recording. It's a different kettle of fish to someone posting a legitimate single, everyone downloading it and it ending up costing the band income through lost sales.

As a few of the folk who post here are aware, I'm in the middle of organising a couple of events that are NO related, any chance of a playback of some new songs has pretty much disappeared with this thread , thanks Slippy, I hope this minidisc thing aint bullshit or the emperors new clothes , 'cos I'm curious about this exclusive you may have, and from what I've read , I'm not alone.

Perhaps it would have been wiser to e-mail a few of your fellow travellers rather than opting for a more raised profile . Still .. water under the bridge and all that.

Originally posted by Ness The track definitely sounded like New Order with Hooky's bass and Barney, I tried to remember the lyric but the beer intake didn't help.I noticed Hooky with a make shift CD inlay that said 'New Order Metro 2" anyone know what that is???

sure it didn't say Retro 2? :skeptic:

yeah, I bet they're most surprised that someone would find out they were broadcasting them & then take a recorder along....

Shut up, you soppy tarts! If the Slipmeister wants to host an mp3 of a new New Order song, then let the lad. Can't see how that's going to channel any negative feelings towards NOOL whatsoever. It's not like it's actually Nicos hosting the file, now is it?

If New Order had played an unreleased song live then there'd have been no qualms whatsoever about taping it and then giving it an airing somewhere.

And I don't see the difference here.

Slippy, if you get round to ripping the MP3 I'll gladly accept a copy in my in-box. The Freebass thing wouldn't go amiss either. Cheers.

Not arsed about the mpfree , just the timing didn't suit , whilst putting forward the idea of an exclusive playback for NO fans, along with promises of secure copyright etc, this popped up, seemed a little silly to carry on with the idea after, just bad timing

Hence the water under the bridge etc

Also the reason I hope the fucker exists. I'd like to hear somethin , I'd fuckin hate this to be a wind up, as such I reserve the right to be sceptical and soppy , and just a bit tart

I don't think there's any doubt the track exists: Jimbo and Ness both confirmed this. And I heard the Freebass thing meself. It's just whether Slipshod (for which he will be known if he don't get his finger out!) actually has the holy grail in front of him, or is just telling porkies. Or his mate is, or whatever. Or he don't know how to rip an MP3 properly.

I can't make the Ritz to detail the relevant punishment beatings if this all goes to pot but top boy Shug Zico Voeller will be despatched to do my bidding instead. He's very handy with a shiv, but then ... show me a pocket-sized Jock who ain't. :thumb:

Sorry, didn't know anything about your 'exclusive playback' but then I don't see how this would harm that whatsoever. It's not like Slipstream's trying to make money, or advertise this in the wrong places or whatever. He's just a fan trying (vainly) to help out his fellow disciples.

And he's had 72 effing hours now so I'm not a happy bunny. :mad2:

This has turned into a quality thread, poor Ole Slipface is getting battered left right and centre:evil4: Less of the Pocket Size though Mr Jarvis - I am of average height, it's the likes of YOU, Hanky, Muffy, Tim and Johan Scott that are the weird b'stards:D

Slippy, are you Piers Morgan ?

Sorry to hear you aint doin the Ritz Al, was hopin to introduce you to our local Barmaid in return for an intro to the non-flipflop wearing client when I visit t'big city.

I dont doubt there is a track , I got reservations re: slip.... ( left blank in case he comes good ), 72 hours an exclusive track , surprised the lad didn't pull a sicky ... hypertension would have been apt.

Shug, I'm only Five feet five in me socks, so I'll hold yer coat an pass the shiv. :thumb:

This minidisc contains a lot of stuff but it ends rather sharpishly and if NO were the last track I doubt it's there!

The whole thing sounds like he was standing in Kings Cross tube station when he recorded it, the sound quality is worse than that Homage recording!!

Seems like I found something resembling the freebass thing if anyone wants that but it ain't too exciting!

ps. I resent being called Piers Morgan!! But all the other stick I can take!:p

Never mind, it woke the world of NOOL up for a couple of days, so all is not lost. Now, those photos.....

He actually introduced the Freebass thing as such - Freebass! - so should be easy to spot.

Had it on good authority yesterday that Hooky is seriously pissed off with this [putting the NO track on line]. Not one to say 'I told you so, but...:evil4:'

Don't think it's got anything to do with impact on future sales, that kinda cold logical analysis is a mile wide of the mark. I would say it's got more to do with airing unreleased material without the bands consent. Also an audience recording from a DJ spot might not contain the level of quality the band would like!

Actually quite surprised you thought I was being paranoid Simon, everything we know and hear about the band e.g. Barney's feelings over the LIVE Retro CD, pointed towards this going down like the proverbial cup of cold sick. Didn't it?

On reflection, it's a good job this didn't work and Gary's suggestion to share it privately was surely the more street wise approach. On a slightly different note, another no-show from Slippy yesterday!. This geezers reputation for reliability is ripped apart and he's only been on here 5 minutes. On this occasion, failure to deliver is a blessing in disguise.

A few things to straighten out and then hopefully this thread will go forever :nonono:

  1. It was not me who 'snuck' a MD recorder in

  2. The so called MD was fucking shite and had nothing resembling New Order on it

  3. I have never posted anything copyrighted online!

  4. The reason for the no-show is my dad was admitted to hospital with an infection (he has cancer) and is in a very bad state! - So fuck you! :mad2: - get your fucking facts right before gobbing off about other users! BTW I seem to have more posts than you!

  5. I'll get my coat! :\pissedoff:

ps to Hooky: I was never gonna post a track to the Internet, I ain't that stupid! And thanks for Twenty Four Hours - my life would not have been the same without it - Slippy out!
