Also the last time Age of Consent and All Day Long were played, and allegedly the gig after which Barney decided he wanted to go solo. He was quite upset by news of the death of Pete de Freitas, as comes through in the gig.
Not sure its the best quality 89 show though, several clearer recordings and better performances.
Sound wise, Cleveland and Chicago are probably best, performance wise I'd go for New Orleans, Atlanta, Vancouver and Minneapolis.
Can anyone mp3 this and get it up on a sever temporarily? I cant get anything from sharing the groove due to firewall security stuff at work.

Yeah, picked that one up a while back its one of the best i've ever heared from the technique era. It has some top onstage buffoonery from bernard to boot! I used to have a superb audience recording from Reading 89 but my car got stolen along with me tapes—the buggers!
DAMN! Great sound quality. The Cleveland show was good as well, a bit too treble heavy for my taste, this one has much better bottom end sound to it. Pure class 
P.S. Anyone have any ideas for the computer *ahem* literati such as myself to convert to .wav or .mp3 formats?

There is a reason! .wav files are lossless, but they are massive files. Compression formats such as .flac or .shn shrink the .wav file down without any of the original data being lost (whereas .mp3 is a "lossy" format, losing some of the less audible frequencies). I must confess, I struggle to hear the difference sometimes (I'm only just starting to notice), but I'd certainly rather have these recordings as perfect representations of the original, rather than the chintzy sound associated with .mp3s. JD/NO traders are pretty laid back on STG, as opposed to the hardcore Zep or Hendrix fans who bring out a lynching order if you so much as think about converting (and distributing) their shared files as .mp3s.

A while back a thread was started about the mixer recording of that show that was circulating being a copy of either the Detroit or Cleveland show (can't remember which). I think Jarvo mentioned that there was some skepticism by the band's management about the authenticity of that show being from Chicago during the compilation of the live tracks on Retro.
I'd be curious if there is new news on this.

Second, you need to DL the Bit Torrent software. You can find this by signing up for the forum and then well click here http://www.sharingthegroove.org/msgboard/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=17
Got to pick a mirrorsite. Do not freak out, the site will have nothing to do with the DL. Scroll to pick your choice, do not click the choice.
Then you DL the software, open it and THEN click the "attachement New Order."
After all that DL the converter mentioned above.
NOTE slow ass DL.

I'm the same drewc who started that seed over on STG. If anyone already had this Irvine gig, as you can read in the thread the original that was out there was off-pitch by about 2 percent. This one's been fixed and yes, it is a TERIFFIC show to get. It makes it worthwhile to learn about FLAC and lossless file formats - it would be a damn shame if the only way to get this crystalline, pure, beautiful recording was as badly-encoded MP3s.
I also put up a lossless Cuyahoga Falls (Cleveland) from the same tour, the same gig in fact on Old Blue's link. This is three digital generations from the DAT master, and there is zero MP3 lineage in it - it sounds a billion times better than the MP3s posted. Thanx Drew. I see that there are many NO and JD gigs over there. DLs seem slow, however, may be due to my settings even though I lack a firewall it is slow for me.
The bootleg sounds awesome! I did not run a mp3 converter, rather I guessed that my burnatonce burner would do the trick with the flac (?) files. It automatically converted them to wav for an audio cd. burnatonce.com free software and DL no bullshit or spyware. I have not DLed the latest version that just came up.
BTW, I have family in Naperville and will be in your area on August 12th.

The show in question was definitely Cleveland. The "Fine Time" on Retro matches up to the Cuyahoga Falls Fine Time, accounting for the crossfades out of and into audience noise, with the loss of Hooky's outro solo.

Is your copy of Minneapolis complete? The listing on Waterrat (and NOOL) has just six songs on it: All The Way, Dream Attack, The Perfect Kiss, Fine Time, Vanishing Point, and Blue Monday. I strongly suspect this was based from someone's recollection rather that the order of the songs on a tape!

From what I remember of the discussions on this issue first time around is that when I compared my Hoffman Estates gig to the setlist on NOOL for that gig, it didn't match up. Solitude checked his source and found the same. Turns out that the setlist for the supposed Hoffman Estates gig was identical to the Cuyahoga (Cleveland) or Pine Knob (Detroit) gig (can't remember which one). I think the conclusion was reached that Hoffman Estates gig hadn't surfaced and that the one in circulation was credited to Chicago '89 in error. I'll see if I can find the original thread.
