The 'other site' posted a string of interesting news this morning, worthy of discussion.

Key points:

* John Leckie and Steven Street re-confirmed as the new album producers along with some tracks with Steve Osborne. No news on Brian Eno although it appears he's been sought by the band in the past.

* No album release date yet and no live dates confirmed for this year.

* Bernard to sing 'Transmission' with Doves and Hooky 'Heart and Soul' with ACR at the Gretton gig.

* Londoner Matt Clayson has been named lead singer of Freebass.

I was hoping that Hooky might've given Sultan a bit more of an idea of how complete the album is, maybe someone can ask Bernard when he DJ's London in July.

On the Doves DVD ("Where We're Calling From") there is a rather rough home video of them performing Transmission in a pub somewhere. Also seen on same DVD is a Joy Division flight case that they probably knicked off Gretton.

Not sure how it's going to sound in an acoustic style-ee though...

I'll be humble and put those online, with proper credit.

Er, don't think he's a pilot, Nicos.

But he does work for an airline, so gets cheaper fares.

I'm quite sure somebody cut and pasted to me his "profile" on his message board, and it does state pilot...

Easily done... It's in the "How Things Really Are" film, which isn't directly accessable from the menu, but starts after "Scrapbook" if you let it run. About 1 minute 10 seconds in.

You probably know this, but I'll mention it anyway. If you navigate left through the menu and press DOWN on each item, some of them bring up a white squre at the bottom of the screen that lead to more hidden features. Most are just silly video clips, but if you do it on "Sea Song" you get a nifty 20 minute montage of demo recordings.
