Who do people hate Tony Wilson?

I think Wilson is is a great ambassador for manchester and his drive, rhetoric, stupid ideas/brilliant ideas and sheer not giving a toss about what others think of him has allowed him to be one of the prime movers in shaping modern manchester: the hacienda/ dry etc set the blueprint for what is going on now(not all of it brilliant). The ethos of factory was also a big part of the new order mythology and he had a lot to do with that.

Also anyone who winds scousers up so much should be made lord mayor of the city.

By th way, the only reason the happy mondays might have been anywhere near maine road would have been to batter city fans.

It's quite ironic that everyone is talking about Wilson and his role in the great scheme of things, when in two days time there will be a memorial show for the man who really made things happen, Rob Gretton. Just goes to show that Wilson's spin will always win.....

Looks increasingly unlikely - haven't managed to blag a meeting in Manchester for Monday morning, and don't have a ticket either. We're playing tomorrow night in London, else I'd have made a weekend of it to justify the rail fare.

As for as I am concerned Rob Gretton has always done more for Manchester than Wilson.

It was Rob's idea to set up the Hacienda, Wilson was unconvinced at first, yet he takes all the credit for it. However I am expecting him to say on sunday somthing like like Rob had just as much to do with it as he did.

I need to buy the city life magazine as their is an article about Morrisey and another one about the Rob Gretton gig.

I think its so sad that Hannet, Greton and Curtis aren't with us today to see the full extent of they have achieved.

I mean going into the HMV store in Manchester they have some band t-shirts and one of the largest selection is Joy Division.

The current music scene in Manchester seems to be a hangover from the Factory era with bands such as Doves having strong Rob Gretton connections. In night clubs people go for mad for Madchester era songs.

I think New Order are at least as good if not better than a lot of bigger bands. On sunday its going to be a night for 1300 people to show their appcreciation for the fact Rob Gretton help so many bands make it big and getting New Order back together.
