Exactly! There are two bands in Italy which started in the 60s and they have ONE original member each, the rest have been additions and replacements during the years, and some of them could be the children of the originals (and some replacements are even better than the originals)... I've got no prejudice against this kind of thing, just see how things go, we'll always know THE New Order as we've learnt to love them are those of the period 1981-1998 (the line up with Gillian, which made history), but this doesn't mean other incarnations of the band can't be great too, and actually we've had the 2001-2002 version of the band which has been great, just wait before judging the 2005 version... and I hope we'll all get to see the 2020 version... ;)

I've just been thinking that one of the reasons I'm in favour of Phil as a proper member is he's living a dream which I think is very common amongst New Order fans who're musicians. Joining New Order, or having some of them in your own band, playing with your band as support etc... who wouldn't want it... I also hope he'll appear in photo shoots to show they're a quartet again...

You mean 1981-2001, as Gillian was involved in the Get ready recording sessions...

Yes, it's correct, I was just thinking at the live band... 2001 was a year of passage though, Phil played all the dates... the third version of New Order (the second being the longest running and the first being the early trio in 1980) can be stretched to 2003 also, as Phil appeared on Vietnam (I think it's the first recording with him, he wasn't on Here To Stay, was he?), though I think he was left at home for the Saville soundtrack...

What, you don't like the Soundtrack? It's been one of the few recent releases which made agree the very most of the fans in saying it's great!

Really? When it came out I seem to remember it being greeted with some disdain. Actually, I quite liked it, especially when Hooky's bass comes in, but realised on reading your mention of Phil that I hadn't played it since. I'll give it another go and see how it's stood the test of time (it's hardly 'recent' it must have come out about a year ago now - still in NO terms I suppose...)

I remember the most of the comments, especially on the Ceremony and Factory lists, were positive. The main complaint was it's way too long but as I said the best way to enjoy it is as background music, which is what a soundtrack is supposed to be...

Now I'm worried, as the song is 30:12 in length - so what are you doing for the last 2 minutes and twelve seconds every time you play it..?
