WHO DID NEW ORDER MIDIS IN THE DOWNLOADS SECTION?

Actually nothing to do with MIDIs but I thought I'd mention it in this post reply anyway.

I have a bunch of New Order MODs that I downloaded years ago from a site (I understand) is no longer online. I've noticed over the years one or two people looking for NO related tracking files so if Nic or WenOrder is interested in giving these a home on NOOL for all the tracking-NO-fans out there, give us a shout over MSN. :) Files included are a clever version of BLT (genuine samples) and one or two reasonable reproductions of Blue Monday...

I'm sure the original authors won't mind! (Whoever they are)

I believe the majority of the midis were done by some guy from japan.

As far as MOD files. I'd like to get a copy from you ally, i use to collect them also. but i lost all of them.

Mod files are music files, kind of enhanced midi... that was the best you can get in a reasonable size before mp3 ;)

Yes Seb I am alive and well ;) Took a break from the whole New Order-related web community for a year or two while I concentrated on my degree. Still checked out the news of course and decided NOOL looks like a fun place to contribute some "highly opinionated" posts now and then lol

Back to topic, MODs were indeed basic formats used on Amiga/CM64s and later on PCs using software such as Impulse Tracker or Fasttracker. Basically you place samples in a certain place on the screen and a line runs through them essentially making your own music. Samples could be synth lines, bassdrums, etc. and your keyboard is an actual "keyboard" for notes.

The format evolved to IT (Impulse Tracker) files, and MT (Madtracker) files with the capability of adding your own effects (Reverb, delay, etc.) I still get a lot of fun sequencing and mucking about with samples in the latter then mixing it through Cool Edit 2000.
