that word.... i can´t get it out of my mind since the day i read hooky´s words... "the new songs are uppy because we´re uppy"... :uhoh:

i´m really concerned, i must admit. uppy stuff never appealed to me generally speaking. but what´s uppy for NO? Slow Jam? Such A Good Thing? WIM? no, thank you! :nono: The Village? Hurt? hmmm :skeptic: Face Up?

i don´t know, it´s good to be optimystic but almost all of the time optimysm brings crappy creations. i´m of the idea that when you feel sad you need to express it through the art to get over it and when you´re uppy you don´t need art because you´re already feeling well and expressing it in your own life. at least it happens to me with my own stuff and much the things from others i´ve heard all my life. often predictable, corny, cheesy and stupidly happy.

i just wanted to share my concerns with you. thank you very much. i´ll get my coat!

I wouldn't be too worried, I mean is technique 'up'?

I don't think so, it sounds like being melancholy but in the sun.

Uppy like Technique? As in Fine Time? :brow:

Loveless, All The Way, Guilty Partner ... more of this I hope!

Barney was kinda "uppy" on Raise the Pressure, with the Prozac and all.

Barney's lyrics were very lightweight on Get ready, it is kind of scary thinking about them getting even more insubstantial

i agree with you. Raise the pressure was the worst Electronic album IMO, because it sounded too damn uppy for my ears... like Out Of My League.... arghhh. don´t get me wrong, i still "like" it but i prefer other things....

It was just the drugs talking. Bets are that the next morning, Hooky was sitting, head in hands, muttering:

'I'm a TWAT! UPPY???? What the hell was I thinking of...? The Other Two are gonna take the piss something rotten...'

I share your concerns, almanso. I don't want another lighter-than-the-air 'Raise The Pressure'. But on the other hand I must admit I love 'Such A Good Thing' very much. I can't help it... In my opinion the perfect match of what New Order are able to create so far is Low-Life.

Uppity? We don't need them there New Orderians getting "uppity", do we? Why, they'll revolt as sure as my name is Festus Hornfog Wellwisher Billy Bob Godfearing Beauregard! :cowboy:

Mick's got the right idea. If "uppy" means Temptation, no one has any cause for complaint. And what could possibly be more "uppy" than Temptation?

Some of you guys are reading way too much into casual comments - before it was rumoured to have some similarities with Sunrise - that's not so 'uppy', is it? 'Uppy' may just mean the guys are having fun making it - same way I expect they had fun making Technique (when they were having a good time in Ibiza), hence where the comparisons with that album come from.

I wouldn't be surprised if Hooky attached that description just to get a reaction like these sort, for a laugh.

As long as there's an equal balance of dancy songs and rockier songs, I'll be happy.
