I'm guessing it would be Hooky due to his stubbornness when it comes to his playing.

It was himself (Ian), and he actually did sack him out of the band. Definitively. For good.

Not much of a secret really, Ian wanted Barney out at one stage, he was apparently too lazy.

Ian did want to quite the band though, he said in a Radio Lancashire interview in 1979 that he only wanted to release one album and thats it. Closer was never supposed to be happen in Ian's eyes, I guess the band just got to big and Rob and Tony kept pushing it has it was a great band.

You certainly couldn't call Barney lazy now but what was his main role in JD?

Indeed, Debbie says so in her book. Apparently Barney was being lazy, so Ian suggested they get a new guitarist one time when Barney was off on holiday (if I recall correctly). Ian denied saying that once Barney came back, but as a result, Hooky's bassline became much more prominent in the songs from then on.

Barney? Lazy? Whatever next!

I thought it was Ian that was the lazy one in the band.

I've never heard of Jockey Slut, what sort of magazine is it and can you get in Australia?

Basically it's a quarterly music magazine the tagline is "Disco Pogo for Punks in Pumps" Whatever that means. There is a website but it seems not to be working www.jockeyslut.com From what I can see of the blurb inside it does not appear to be available outwith UK.

Hi Mick Things are going well thanks. I played the CD-R the following morning on the way up to T-inthepark,it complemented my hangover lovely.There was a couple of tracks I hadn't heard before and it wasn't until Retro came out that I was able to identify them, which was nice. I was a bit dissapointed not to make it down to the Rob Gretton gig a couple of weeks ago,it would have been great to meet yourself and Shug again, but it was nice reading all the posts of the people who did make it. You certainly seem to have had a moderately acceptable evening.
