Will New Order be re-mastered on CD?

Are their plans to re-master all the full lenghth albums?

Nope.

I see the Rolling Stones have just remastered their first 12 vinyl singles - complete with B-sides, EP tracks and original artwork - into a CD boxed set with a £30 price tag. Just the sort of thing that Rob Gretton wanted for the Order's Recycle project... One can hope...

but other groups of the 80s and 70s have had nice older album remasters... is New Order really of that less interest? The Cure should have more sales from a bigger established more mainstream base, but is Echo and the Bunnymen that much bigger than New Order? the Bunnymen have remasteres on both sides of the Atlantic. Wire had their first three records nicely remastered. Brian Eno just had his 70s albums remastered nicely, i doubt they are selling all that much. so why not New Order? I bet their pre- Technique catalogue could be improved.

Honestly, I've been privately dreaming of the day NO release all their stuff remastered and packaged ala Pet Shop Boys style - double discs ( full album on disc 1 and all related B-sides & studio out-takes from same album sessions on disc 2 )with extra thick booklet full of anecdotes..........and also, I would die a happy man when they do the same for The Smiths!!! ( I'll definitely go crashing into a double-decker bus or a ten-tonne truck, smiling :) )

I agree with you in a way... only problem is... have New Order really done enough B-sides to make it worth a second CD??? My guess is that they haven't, and besides that no remixes really existed on their early singles, just crappy instrumental piss abouts. Most of their remixes have been done long after the original versions came out... take Blue Monday '88 for instance, it just wouldn't fit in with Power Corruption & Lies really... :(

I don't really see the point of remastering anyway, I often find the origianls sound more natural especialy on vinyl as its how they would have wanted it to sound:)

We've had this debate several times now - funny really, as it's all theoretically just in our heads right now (I've certainly never heard any official mention of remastered editions)!

There'd certainly be enough material for an extra disc on each album, even if it were simply the other tracks from singles that supported the albums when first released - such as the original 'Blue Monday', 'Confusion' and 'Thieves Like Us' for 'Power, Corruption & Lies', and the two versions of 'Ceremony', 'Everything's Gone Green' and the 7 inch and 12 inch 'Temptation' versions on 'Movement'. Add to that the handful of B-sides, "crappy instrumental piss abouts" (which many of us love), and a few seven inch edits, and there's your bonus discs.

As discussed before though... Who knows if the masters still exist..!
