Hi, I am looking to set up a New Order tribute band in London. I am looking for gillian, stephen and hooky, not to look like them, but to have a laugh, see what happens, and play some of the greatest music ever. If you live in London, or near London and can travel, please answer this thread! Anyone with a real deep knowledge of the band would be really useful, as i am only an amateur, but really love playing the music

Welcome to the boards Nik! I was born in Guildford - but can't play much in the way of instruments - only keyboards and I ain't female!
They're like buses these cover bands. Wait 24 years for one to come along then three pop up at once.
Nik, in the Lahndun area you've already got Digital, re:Order and Unknown Pleasures doing NO/JD covers, members of which all post here!
Why don't you form a band to play your own original material, instead of scrounging work off a legendary band? You never know, you might even get a record deal, but it's never going to happen if all your doing is roaming around performing shit versions of 'True Faith' & 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' every night.
I think all tribute acts should be outlawed, just a sack of no-good parasites trying to make a living (or trying to impress people) off other peoples genuine talent. I blame Elvis Presley, him dying starting it all, the selfish bastard! 
erm, bit harsh don't you think? I DO have my own band, we DO play our own material, and I HAVE released in the past. I am doing this project to have a laugh. I have spent seven years doing my own stuff, with success thanks. So why don't you keep opinions like that to yourself, and stop being s bloody pompous eh?

If you have your own band, then why bother forming another one just to sour New Order's legacy? Just persuade your bandmates to perform a NO cover occasionally.
And for your information, I can't stop being pompous. Have you ever tried changing the habit of a lifetime?...
Well, if you are truly pompous, why listen to NO? Possibly the least pompous band ever. Go and listen to the Darkness... Oh yeah, my band (Decades...mmm, wonder where we got that from...) have done JD and NO covers in the past. It's not about quoting the songs ad verbatim, it's about putting your own spin on things.

Didn't know the size of a mans pomposity reflects what music he should listen to. If most of the NOOL members listened to a band that was as pompous as they are, this would be Genesis Online... 
Nik - ignore him. He won't go away, but it does give a certain amount of self-satisfaction!
As for New Order/JD covers bands - I see nothing wrong with that. If a band is actually GOOD at doing covers, it's not a bad thing - after all, if we believe JSB, then the whole 'Community' project was leeching off NO/JD success. Also, it gives people a chance to enjoy the songs live while New Order aren't touring...
I play bass and have done for 21 years now - have released stuff in several bands too. I'd be interested in getting together with you, at least for a few beers and a chat, sometime in early July. I'm in 'Sarf' London at the moment and there are certainly a few venues around here that would take us at the drop of a hat, especially if we were actually any good! 
I've seen 'Digital' before - Didn't enjoy it at the time (I was knackered and in a foul mood) but looking back on it, they weren't bad at all. I'd quite like to see them again now...
Chris, you haven't seen Digital. You may have seen Unknown Pleasures, but you haven't seen us, unless you've seen Will's video !
Okay, 'Unknown pleasures' then...
So when are 'Digital' next playing? i'll try to come to see you - as long as you don't play any Cure or depeche Mode...
