can't play in session cd..

hi, i posted this message the other day but couldn't find it in the forum any more...i can't seem to play the new 'in session' cd in the pc (but ok w/ cd player), can anyone tell me if i have a defective disc? the enhanced portion works fine though except pc could find the music tracks... many thanks, mike

might have some weired copyright protection thing on it? i will say this though i cant get any of the get ready singels or album to play in my computer with out trying 5 times..

I know this doesn't help you, but mine works fine on both the computers I tried.

I replied to your original post, but I think that the thread has been deleted - probably because of some backup or maintenance-activity... Oh well, it's not the first time.

Anyway, what I said then was that the CD plays fine in both Windows XP and Linux. I can even rip it in XP using CDex. It could be that your drive can't read non-Red Book CDs (Compact Disc Digital Audio). The In Session CD is not a "CDDA" CD, but a Enhanced CD. If you read the fineprint you'll see that Enhanced CD is a certification type of RIAA. Enhanced CD is not a "real" CD and is therefore not allowed to carry the "CD" logo.

You may also want to read the Beastie Boys news room for more info regarding copyright protection in Europe...

thanks for all the replies...this is the first time i have seen this problem and it's quite odd since my pc played the quicktime video but windows media player or any other players just couldn't see the sound tracks...i tried three other machines w/ either xp or win2000 and none of them can see it! i suspect copyright protection but my pc can see the quicktime file...

for the people who can play on their pc, is your disc produced in UK or some other euro country?

If you've got any of those "copy protected" CD's, bounce them over to me. Not one has failed to be "cracked" just by the standard selection of tools I use to rip CD's

Oh, I'm not using Windows, or a Mac. Thats why!
