I'm a wee bit confused...they got the new name in 1984????

1980, wasn't it? After Joy Division folded?

I just got into New Order, like, last month.

New Order are Joy Division. Though there's a difference or 2.

I know. But after they dropped the name "Joy Division", they officially became New Order in, I believe, 1980.

I went for the 4-7 years since I REALLY got into them in about 2000.

20 years for me.

A further poll question could be: how many of the 20+ fans completely lost interest between, say, '90 and '93 (extend this to early '98 if you will), writing the band off as a bland parody of its former self?

21 years. Fuck me, I'm old. (That's a statement, not a request!)

37 years! It was great listening to the sounds Barney and Hooky made whilst being beaten by the maths teachers pump.

I'll raise you.....from March 89 to 1993, then very quickly again from the closing credits of TOTP Baywatch to Brixton 2001. That's almost as long away as home.

Yeah the month that BM was released. I'd heard Temptation previously but didn't know who recorded it then BM popped up. I was quite gutted to learn they had played The State twice no less the same month.

I think they played the State two weeks after Blue Monday was released.....

22ND AND 23RD Of March

I know this cos somebody sent me both shows on CD not long ago.

Cheers to whoever that was - ma memory is gash:karate:

Back onto the subject started by Jan - how d'ya think I felt matey, just got into the Order and they split up for 4 years, then when they do comeback they split up again almost straight away for another 5 years. With Celtic going 9 years without a league title and hardly any New Order it's amazing I turned out as normal as I am:D

I don't think they'd have let me in. I was 14.
