Coronation Street

Apologies to our non UK friends who may not get the references but I had to share this with you.

On last nights Corrie, old Vera was telling the new woman Frankie of her and her husbands "our tune" when the younger Frankie said that her and her husbands tune was "Joy Division's Love Will Tear Us Apart" (a direct quote)which she and Danny (played by Bradley Walsh - still unknown comedian) used to get down to as 16 year olds in the local disco where she would be dressed in her boob tube and mini skirt.

Next scene enter Danny to a room full of lit candles to the sountrack of "Love Will Tear Us Apart" (unfortunately the 1995 remix not the original A or B side). Cue romantic dancing scene with afore mentioned clobber on show.

As much as I love LWTUA, surely it is most limited as a song to pull or snog to only "Atmosphere" is less of a disco classic

Maybe "Blue Monday" would have fit the story better.

However it is nice to know that there is at leat one JD fan scriptwriting on one of our soaps.

The Battersbys act out a scene to "Atrocity Exhibtion"

i can't watch Corrie, they all talk funny :D

i saw that, it was awful.

i always feel that the writers of corrie are southerners taking the piss out of mancunians??? i dont know anyone who talks like 90% of the characters in corrie. they all have reet broad lancashire accents like its set in burnley or something.

I think the writer is probably a JD fan. I do get the feeling the they are taking the piss out of mancs though. I live in South Manchester and there are loads of sandwich bars, cofee bars, wine bars etc near me.

In corrie they make out those places only exist down south. Although maybe they think Chorlton is in fact down south.

There are few charectors with genuine manc accents but not many.

A note to anyone fortunate enough to have never seen this show: ABSOLUTE TRIPE!
