One of the better mellow Electronic songs IMHO. Some of Barney's best lyrics.
absolutely agree w/Twist...and they left it off of TT for good reason...I don't think it would have meshed well with the album but is a great little son...
oddly enough, this song kind of reminds me of Sabotage...same kinda vibe with a rolling baseline that didn't fit with the album but a cool contrast anyway.

But,it IS on the USA version of Twisted Tenderness...
It's true that it's on the US version...
I think it's a shame it ended up as a B-Side because, although not fantastic, this is a good track.

But it's true Don - after the first album you could barely name 3 Electronic tracks that are remotely any good. Let us be thankful that Bernard got all the shite songs out of his system during this period (besides Slow Jam of course).
Indeed, check out all your live bootlegs, Don - Electronic never played anything off their 2nd and 3rd albums live!

Second Nature is probably ma favourite Electronic song, and some of their early extra cd track songs are crackers, Imitation Of Life and A New Religion are just a couple of examples of pure Barney magic. Obviously not everyone's gonna agree, but I was always the first to queue up at the shops for Electronic's release's
They kept me sane in the non neworder years, and apart from a few disco dub songs that shouldnae have been allowed on RTP - Electronic have been a great getaway from the Order, without me feeling guilty
Only bastard was that the cunts never gave the fans a proper chance to see em! (the 90/91 gigs are mostly to be forgotten)

A shame that RTP goes downhill during the middle as
it kicks off in fine style with Forbidden City and closes with 'Only Time Will Tell' which is beautifully melancholic
I love it. I think it's a great track, really good lyrics, just vintage Sumner/Marr. And it's the one Electronic track that sounds like The Smiths.
Very good song indeed, as were many of their B-sides. I fully agree with the Shugster when he says that Electronic were a good surrogate during the non-order years. Even RTP has got some classic tracks, especially during the first half of the album.
By the way, I found the two "Late at Night" single CDs at Virgin Megastore in Paris, as if they had been officially released, although everybody seems to talk about a promotional only release.

They were recalled before being entered into the charts,so you've got a good find there
I found Twisted Tenderness Deluxe in the racks at a record store in Holland once - no mention of its rarity neither :D
i found this Late At Night single here in Buenos Aires. both parts! although i could only buy one for being short of money. and it´s the one that has Warning Sign. absolutely great track, as most of the TT era. great acoustic guitar, intimate vocals and good lyrics. the groove reminds me of the rolling stones, don´t know why. if you don´t remember it you can hear my live acoustic version on the Cover Archives of this site.
The latter albums had some great songs, overall not as good as the first but I love...

Electronic have released 3 good albums,out of all the side project releases nothing else comes close to any of them.
Warning Sign is an ace track.. Out of all the tracks from the Twisted Tenderness period I almost always give that one a listen, along with the original "Ice-T" sample'd version of Make It Happen (on the Promo CD), and the monster Prodigal Son. While I agree the song may not have "fitted in" on TT for "flow" reasons, it's got a great melodic acoustic guitar line and an addictive chorus, I attribute the lyrics towards a dead relationship which I (and I'm sure many people) can identify with. I have a great deal of promo CDs/vinyl from that period, including the withdrawn "Late At Night" 12" + promo + CD1 & CD2. I actually blagged CD2 out of Parlophone as a free promo :P I said I was researching news for my New Order-related (Monaco) website :D hehe
I've noticed this really closed-mindedness among a great deal of New Order fans (not just in this thread) relating to side-project activities. It's just pathetic in my mind, I really love the fact New Order branched out and did something different and I think they themselves would wholeheartedly agree. I would rather have Monaco "Music for pleasure", or the debut Electronic album in place of a New Order album full of Shellshocks, or State of the Nations. Some fans cannot deal with the fact their beloved heroes did something apart from each other and so proceed to slag it regardless. All the side-projects, even Revenge, had pretty good tunes certainly the equal of New Order in terms of quality when you look at NO's worser offerings (I.e. Shellshock, State of the nation, Brotherhood, Movement, etc.)
Just because our beloved New Order members play together does not necessarily always mean great music... Slow Jam and Rock The Shack being recent examples. I would rather listen to the bsides of the side projects (Ultra, Imitation of life, WARNING SIGN) compared to those two so I guess it's horses for courses eh?
As for such grand sweeping statements as "Barney got all his crap writing out of his system with Electronic", they are both inaccurate and retarded. Opinion aside, at least two Electronic albums, and one Monaco album achieved critical acclaim with the music press and that is no mean feat for a "New Order side project". So those people can sit there with their smug opinions but it won't stop other folk from getting some good tunes out of the side project records. There are shitloads of side project tracks I'd rather listen to instead of New Order ones and I'm sure I'm not alone. This does not mean I don't consider New Order the best at what they do, but the side-projects show a different side to each member and I think all their stuff (bar certain Revenge records) was worth it.
So f*ck you basically. :)

Barney sounds like he's trying too hard to be a pop star, in my opinion, on the track "Twisted Tenderness," which is kind of ironic for the time it came out.
