ok we all know that new order had a uk no1 with WIM but what other number ones have they had world wide if any. same question for jd,im sure they had a no1 in new zealand or oz?

I'm pretty sure that is a no. Technique may have gone to no. 1 in the UK though. The best they ever did here in Oz was no. 5 with BLT.

I'm sure NO came much closer than JD did here stateside, but it certainly wasn't from lack of belief by Tony Wilson in JD that hindered that. I'll always recall an interview he gave with the New York Rocker in which he said something like "the potential for JD in America is three million albums, because that's what great albums sell. Three million people buy the REO Speedwagon album because they think it's great; it's easier for Closer because it is a great album." Sadly the reality didn't come that close.

No number 1's around the world. Although America has about 183,024 different music charts.

Blue Monday was bound to have hit the Top of the Billboard Disco Chart. I remember Crystal hit number one in one of the billboard charts can't remember which one though. I cannae be arsed looking either - I'm a lazy cunt, sorry:thumb:

 Technique went straight into Number 1, I remember it well, I was still at school and read it in the NME during a History lesson, happy days!

I dont know about all of Canada, but I do know Regret went to number 1 in our city (Calgary)charts and the regret video went to number 1 on our Music Channel (Much Music)on the top 30 count down.

Anyone who remembers the halcyon summer of 1987 will know that "True Faith" was the de facto No.1 that sunny season, regardless of what the records may show....

Here's the UK indie listings for the 1980's (only) courtesy of the cherry red website (recommended). Sorry for the bad cut and paste.

Crystal got to #1 in Hungary I thought, and I know it did fairly well here, albeit after the original release, so they two sets of sales were at different times.

Don't think it did to be honest DoN. Number 4 or 6. I thought it would have at the time though.:)

It made number 6 and disappointingly disappeared from the charts within about 5 weeks... not THAT surprised really on hearing it. :\ohwell:

I am pretty sure I read somewhere that Republic was No.1

World & Crystal went to #1 of the Billboard Dance Music chart....

And, hum, Get The Message has been #1 of 1991 on the alternative charts at CHOM FM in Montréal.

I think it went in at #1 and then dropped pretty quickly in Ireland - the Irish Independent rerun the charts from ten years previously, so last summer they had the 1993 ones...
