Hi all Just a quick question about when we can expect to see our heroes answering the shortlist of questions. Is this still gonna happen? Really looking forward to the responses... CTD

I've mentioned this before but I wonder if any of our posters is really a member of NO.

Well, don't you know Huntsy IS Barney ?

New Order don't give a fuck about their fans and they definitely will not be checking this board. If they cared about fans, they would not play the exact same set night after night (the core set has not changed in nearly a decade) and they would not release 3 different singles for one second rate song with third rate remixes. Don't kid yourself, this message board is for NewOrder fans (people who still care about their favorite band in the fading twilight of their career)

Do I detect a note of bitterness there, Brian? CTD

I bet one of them has looked at this message board at least once.....

It'd certainly be interesting if they had recently, Hooky would go fucking mad...He'd have to reply to some of the stuff - It would probably start with "fuck you lot"

We know "Someone Close To The Band" checked the site, and whined about the mp3s, but as for the band themselves, I have no idea....

As for the result of your questions, as we told you, please be patient, it seems the guy at Warner is a pretty busy guy, but he did tell us he would try to do his best to get our questions answered...

A little rough there Brian I think.. Accusing them of not giving a fuck about their fans is harsh. Don't forget that bands are often coerced into playing certain songs by record companies keen to maximise attendances. I for one hope they do play a clutch of their best known tunes for their shows in the Australian festivals because if they don't they won't get the acclaim they deserve and risk being branded self indulgent. Of course I also hope they complement them with some different tunes rather than rehashing the European set list.

I'd argue that the record company and specifically a guy like Pete Tong is responsible for the spate of crap and uninventive remixes we've endured recently. The band have precious little authority here.

I doubt the band have visited here- they don't seem particularly Net savvy nor sufficiently up themselves enough to read everything written about them. Sure they're in the twilight of their careers but they're bowing out with a heap more respect and dignity than almost any of their peers.

Without wishing to start a whole new debate, or burst your bubble depthcharge .. but .. the Oz shows aren't actually confirmed yet. Are they?

They are confirmed.

All merchandising for the Big Day Out Festival features them as a top 3 drawcard. Peter Hook has appeared on JJJ-FM here, chatting about the shows. If they pulled out now it'd be a financial nightmare for the organisers.

And I for one, with tickets to shows in 3 cities will be particularly.....

Which 3 are you doing? Was trying to persuade the Mrs that Sydney and Melbourne would be a good winter break away. How much are BDO tickets?! Don't fancy paying over the odds for just the one band, and for the same set at each gig .. .

Like I said though, I didn't get the impression the band had 100% commited to this.

The questions will get answered.........but I bet it ain't by the band themselves.

I was a bit harsh but I honestly believe a band with the experience of New Order should have control over what they release to the public and what they play at their shows. If they are puppets for Pete Tong, it's worse than I thought. New Order seem to be going through the motions to pick up another round of royalty checks. Barney cant remember words to songs he sings night after night, the mixes are shit (as most have been historically), they're teaming up with boring US rock stars and while the music on Get Ready is powerful at times, the lyrics are the worst load of dung i've ever heard (i primarily listen to instrumental electronic music but the beautiful symbiosis of electro-acoustic music found on Temptation and Ceremony keep me interested in New Order). I think Barney's mineral water needs to be spiked with a bit of acid so he can revive the mystic lyrics buried deep within (burns my skin).

Brian, I understand what yer saying, but could you imagine NO without Barney's obscure lyrics? impossible mate! And remember he has produced plenty of fine lyrics that have been well documented on these pages. As for spiking his water with Acid - it'd certainly be interesting mate:lol:

Goddammit Jarves, don't go sowing seeds of doubt into our minds down here.. ;) If you know anything to the contrary, please let us know..

The Big Day Out is a fairly heavyweight tour.. They feature the Limp Bizkits, Chemical Brothers, Prodigys, Garbages and so on, of the world.. They wouldn't advertise a band who hadn't signed a contract to play. As I said before, if the Order didn't show up, ths organisers would face a financial disaster. As would I..

If you're coming down, let us know your details. Check the website: www.bigdayout.com for all the ticketing & schedule details.. You'll have to get organised soonish because the first gig is around 18 Jan in NZ.. I'd recommend Sydney and Melbourne if you're doing two.

My goodness -- please explain to me what is going on between you and New Order -- I've never seen a fan such like you, 40 something, following a band wherever they go like this!!!

Jarvo and Depthy - would be thrilled if you came to the Melbourne show. Traditionally very bloody hot though (35'C), so be warned. Bring on the BDO! CTD

I think "Questions to New Order" should be renamed "Questions to Hooky" Because to be honest I can't see Bernard or Steve or Gillian answering fan mail...Hooky maybe if he's in a good mood...I just don;t think they'll go for it..oh well we shall see

It is a bit harsh Brian. The amount of energy put into most of their shows was testament to giving at least a little bit of a fuck about the fans. GR is also a fairly challenging album musically. if they just wanted to cream off royalties they could have made a far more commercially aimed album...Republic part 2. which thankfully they didn't.

Jarvo - a 40 something, how that cheered up my Monday!

I thought you looked young for a 40-something year old man! hahahaahaha

In any case, nobody can question your dedication when it comes to New Order.
