Ah crap

I wanted to title this thread "Ah Bugger", byt in reference to our American readers I refrained. Anyway

My favourite record shop is closing. The one which is resposible for at least half my record/cd collection including most of my New Order collection inc singles and some reasonablly rare stuff like the Factory Benelux singles. The last thing I got there was that Sessions thingy. So Canberra is in danger of turning into a cultural wasteland. I guess more interstate trips to Melbourne and Sydney are in order.

Impact Records has been bought out by JB HIFI. JB aren't too bad for a chain but we already had one of those.

What are you impying that Canberra already is a cultural waste land. Ok I admit it can be a bit dead, especially to visitors who get to see the city centre and think "my local village has more life"

Its a pity all the indys are being gobbled up by the HMV TOWER VIRGIN machine. less variety - more "3cds for a tenner" (cds being the doors greatest hits).

Record fairs are always worth checking out. Great (and i mean great) selection of vinyls (no boots) ,really cheap,but only once every 6 months

Only joking about our Nation's capital, Ron. JB used to be a pretty good chain, but I've found them getting really crap lately, particularly with JD/NO - it's usually only 10 copies of Get Ready and one of Substance. Sounds like the trips to Syd or Melb are the best bet, or failing that buy online CTB
