#1: Why did New Order play so few songs off Get Ready while touring in support of it? Was it just that they had to make room in their typically small setlist for "the hits" or were they unable to play about half of the album due to other (tenchical) reasons?

#2: Why hasn't New Order ever properly recorded, in a non-live situation, LWTUA, their largest hit as Joy Division? I could see why they'd do Isolation since it had a different arrangement when they played it in 1998, but they even recorded Atmosphere, despite it being essentially the same. It just seems strange that a band so accustomed to flogging their back catalogue for all its worth (remixes, sessions CD, etc.) would neglect such an obvious landmark song.

Well, let's see, they did Crystal, 60 MAH, Close Range, Slow Jam, Rock The Shack, Turn My Way... they didn't play Vicious Streak, Primitive Notion, Someone Like You and Run Wild..

They did 60% of the album live, if you compare this to Republic, it's more or less the same ratio as usual... the only one they could have done IMHO is Primitive Notion... Vicious Streak and Run Wild would be boring live, SLY without Gillian wouldn't mean anything.

You don't count the Peel Sessions as "non live" right? it's not a real studio session.. the best bet is, the band wasn't confident enough to record it in 1998, plus, please, do we really want a version of LWTUA with the whoops and the "C'mon" from Hooky?

Well, I consider Peel sessions to be "non-live," but I don't believe they've ever played LWTUA in such a recorded session AS NEW ORDER.

But the ratio used to be sooo much better during the Movement era...

Good point, are peel sessions live or non-live

I consider them to be live.

There are loads of overdubs in the Peel sessions. Can we consider them live? :confused2:

They are recorded live, so I don't understand how anyone can think of them as non-live:scratch:

I think the songs they never played from Get Ready could have been played - but we know how much the band like practising songs for tours don't we! Personally I would have loved Run Wild to be blended in just after the fast songs at the start of the set - Primitive Notion would have fitted in well before TF, Touched, Temp.....

Back in those days they did not have a huge back catalogue, so they had to just about play every song they had live.

Peel sessions aren't live as they aren't a single take recorded in real time. They are recorded in one day and the band can have as many takes, overdubs, corrections as they want in the time available - no different to any other stdio session.

I take it you're referring to the female backing vocals?... Still convinced that's not her. Her voice ain't that strong.

To me they're just studio recordings of the live arrangements. A live recording would have either gone out live on air, or been recorded in front of an audience.
