According to a source close to the band, the mixing of the new album should be done by the end of September, so the new album should be ready by the end of October.

Of course this doesn't tell us about a possible release date, but if everything work as planned, the band will finish their work by the end of October. Can we expect a Christmas or spring 2005 release?

:jawdrop: We may possibly get a New Order album for Christmas.

I guess the guys aren't so lazy after all. :thumb:

Well, don't push your luck... I have no clue how long it is after the album is mixed until a proper release.

Plus we all know "New Order" and "postpone" usually are related words...

But gee, I didn't even know they finished recording! so indeed this is good news... I still wonder how Hooky managed to do that AND Freebass...

Is it right that this album will be in a simular vein to Technique?, i hope so as I for one didn't think much of the 'guitar' songs on 'Get Ready'. They seem to do 'electronic' stuff a lot better. Did either the band or London records make any money with 'Get Ready'?, I am wondering if it is financially viable for them and whether that has an impact on release dates. Naivety:(

I'll give them a year to release any new stuff.

This is great news!!! Hope we get a new record before those guys are in nursing homes...they need to tour and support their album...especially in the states!!!

Oh, you know they'll just chuck the results from these recordings and go back into the studio for a "Lord of the Rings"-themed concept album...:p

Seriously, it would be great if the new album comes out Xmas-time or earlier. Here's hoping...:thumb:

New album by christmas, you mean a Greatest Hits surely? :evil4:

And here I was hoping that there was some SUPER NEW AND FRESH news about the new album once the site came back up.

If the mixing of the new album is completed "by the end of September" a release date in October is not out of the question, provided things like the video, remixes/B-sides and artwork of the first single are sorted out before the album is completed rather than afterwards. However, if something happens to push the earliest possible release date back to November or December I suspect the release date will be put back to January 2005 because October and November is the time when record companies look to put out the albums which are most likely to be the biggest sellers of the year because November and December are the months when most albums are sold (if I remember rightly more albums are sold in those two months than in the rest of the year).

The prospect of a genuinely new New Order album may be popular with the band's fans but unless the album is very poppy indeed or they've become gangsta rappers (most of the few genuinely new albums that get released in December tend to be gangsta rap albums) the record company isn't going to see it as a top priority so if they can't release it before the Christmas rush they will hold back until January when it will have a better chance of getting airplay and getting a chart position which will earn it more airplay. So if I was a betting man I'd put money on it appearing in the shops in January 2005. However, the record industry has changed significantly since the last time a new New Order album was released so I would also be tempted to put a bet on at least one track from the album being made available through the likes of the iTunes Music Store in late 2004.

Sounds brilliant! If they do manage to release it in December, guess what's going on my Christmas list? :D

december? bah! the label has to tool up for a promotional plan, video's take forever, it usually takes a few weeks to churn out enough copies to properly "release" the thing across europe and the states, let alone the rest of the world... then ship and distribute them, along with the rest of London's releases. it is a huge task to release records, and if London doesn't see NO as one of their primary releases for the next 6 months, they aren't going to rush it to the front of the line.

Now that they are with Rhino, I'm curious to see how they will react in the USA though.

It's a drop from Reprise...

Hmmm...

Seeing that Hooky said it was a March release, I'm going for a March release.

Just because it's finished, doesn't mean it'll be released staright away.

*They will want to organise a tour. *Get the artwork done (we all know about that). *The record label will wnat to release it so it doesn't clash with other London releases. *Doesn't clash with a major artist release.

If London/NO can't make mony out of a millionselling album then they're just as bad as Factory.

I'll ALWAYS go with Hooky rather than an anonymous 'source close to the band. Hooky

Brilliant news. I cant wait for it. To be honest, Im just as interested with what saville will come up with for the cover as the material. What drugs are the band doing these days? - always a good basis for what the album will sound like. Also - is the source close to the band called David Sultan? :evil4:

The most important thing - for me anyhow - is that ill FINALLY get to see NewOrder live sometime soon.

 :)

i hope they go the route they did with "here to stay". that single alone means more to me than get ready.

The HMV (a rather large one where i live ) where I got my copy of Get Ready really pushed it. They were playing the album in the store and had a fair spot for it on the new release shelf. Mind you, I do recall the in-store charting having Get Ready in the top ten. Just a little promo can go a long way.

It might also help if New Order put their name on the cover of the album. These days, most people are going to pass it by if they don't see who it is. For example, the average person sees on a shelf " System of a down ", "Linkin Part Remixes", " Moby ", " (some up and comming indy group) " and then an album with a picture of a lady and a red line on it. Unless you bother looking at everything or know the album is out already, chances are you wont even sample it. The cover of Get Ready looked like a chillout techno cd anyway.

Point being, advertising by shops and radios AS WELL as decent marketing from New Order should help the sales along greatly. Because we know the music isnt the problem :D :thumb:

It might also help if New Order put their name on the cover of the album.

But that's the point, I guess. You can obviously recognize New Order records in stores as most of them don't wear any name or title on their sleeves. Clever strategy for promotion, isnt't it?

Usually, there is a sticker on the album stating it's a New Orde record...

Plus, it was written on Retro !

well 'A Means To An End' had 'END' written on it in large letters. as i was walking through hmv it made me stop in my tracks. it smelt of saville. i was right. i wasnt looking at the JD rack at the time, was just wandering through. its not just the lack of a name, theres something about the saville design.

Well, you can and I can recognise it, cos we are long-time fans. But what about somebody who knows nothing about the Order but likes their latest single? If their attention is not caught by something more evident than a no-name-no-title sleeve, they'll never buy the CD cos they won't notice it.

It's far from clear that Saville will do, or even art direct, the sleeve. He's recently described continuing to do record sleeves as being like "doing your O levels [school exams] again and again and again ..." and seemed to have limited interest in even doing a neworder one.

Let's hope he changes his mind. Neworder without a Saville sleeve would be like Neworder without Gillian ...

I was talking about the casual and impulse buyers who probably don't know the new album is even out because the promotion was so dismal. most people i knew had no clue new order had a new album to even ask for.

The only thing I want in my life is a new NEW ORDER album. And also it would be to nice to have a complete video collection on DVD including some best live performances and TTOTP appearances. :) I'm keeping my fingers crossed and I even have a saved up sum for the upcoming New Order stuff (i.e. singles, DVDs, album + a new order special).

Hello. I've ben away for half a year, and now I've returned, there's absolutely no news on New Order and their forthcoming releases. It's nice to know that there are people in this world even lazier than me.

Hi Julijana, wondered where you'd gone to ! Nothing's changed round here. They're still writing/recording the album, still no news of gigs. Rocket Mick's been arrested in Germany, Celtic still haven't lost a game, and Seb has gone mad. Apart from that, it's business as usual.

At least they could release a single. A new single. I agree to wait for another, say, year but if only the new single would have been released by the end of the fall. What are they waiting for? Sometimes I think they'd better be owned by Universal or EMI.

I recently heard through the grapevines that New Order lost a producer, hence they have cancelled stuff to be able to pass more time in studio. They will be there all October.

Now, I have no idea which producer, but apparently, the next Hooky DJ date has been cancelled.

Now, I can't confirm this, so take it or leave it...! Hence why I won't post this on the front page before I can confirm this.

But my source is very credible, so you can trust this information...

Edit: Sorry, the DJ date has NOT been cancelled.

hmmmmm...not so sure this is a good sign...:confused2:

hopefully its not...

--that the producer did not think the music was good enough to put his name on? --That the label didn't think enough of the music to keep paying for an expensive producer --that the songs need more work before really being distilled.

Remember that on Get Ready, the mix of Run Wild was done by New Order (probably Bernard), they didn't want the Steve Osbourne mix.. which ended on the Retro bonus CD...

if they will be there all october that means they had a plan B just in case. besides, this producer represents 50% of the tracks, that means the other 50% is covered by the other producer. so i wouldn´t alarm so much, especially if all what´s need it´s the production hand. i´m sure they have it all recorded by now. don´t you think?

Oh well, I received today confirmation that the Glasgow DJ Gig with Hooky is GOING ON...

This is why I didn't post the news on the front page, I had to get confirmation, and well, the information was denied, so here you go...that part of the information is ok now.

However, I had a good source about that one, I guess Hooky decided to go on...

I'm sorry if I caused any harm to the producers, this wasn't the point !!

You want to give that source of yours a good slap round the kipper - I had a heart attack when I read yer post. I thought I'd forked out a few quid on Flights for a NO show. I was THAT worried I got in touch with the G-Man last night. One good thing to come out of it though. Well, the souce is accurate, probably Hooky changed his mind about that, who knows!

There are 2 other dates of "Get Loaded" set for October and November, maybe they are the ones, I have no idea.

Anyways, if Grahame is still a little pissed at me, the news is now on the front page, I hope we're even :embarassed:

Are they still signed to London Warner? Cos I thought Retro was their contract filler which meant they were free of the label. I hope they're now on their own label or something cos if they still are signed to London Records then there's no chance of getting the new album on nice shiny black vinyl the week it comes out - as far as I know Get Ready was never issued on vinyl cos London recirds never bothered to press enough copies the lazy useless cheapskates.

Vinyl? you must be kidding...

Digital music all along ;) I'd love to have a DVD audio (ie, no compression!)

As far as I know, they are still with London Records.. I'm more curious to see if they will still be on Rhino in the US.. that's the 3rd label they have been in the last years! (Qwest, Reprise, then Rhino)...

As many other NewOrderphiles will attest - nothing beats the sound of decent good quality heavyweight vinyl - with big wide grooves. Two slabs of 12" vinyl would be a perfect format for any forthcoming LP. Digital obviously has its strengths but artwork wise the CD booklets are always far inferior. Peter Savilles art is best appreciated in 12-inch squares. New Order are one of the few bands whose artwork has NEVER been given full respect when it comes to the CD versions of their albums.....the format doesn't do it any justice.

Totally agree with the Saville theory of his 12" artwork when compared to the chinsy CD shite!!

Oddly enough, I desperately hope that New Order isn't on Rhino for good, simply because their logo would utterly mess up the consistency of Saville's Design.

I was there & the sound WAS sh1t - but it got better as it wore on. Me & the wife were some of the odd ones who left after NO while loads more were comming in for the Chillies - we got some odd looks from security! Best bit was Hooky F-ing up the intro to 60 miles so they just stopped & tried again!

Hope its a smaller venue next time - they were brilliant in the Point in '93

Sounded shit, though...

mmmHmm. I heard terrible things off friends who went. Why support the RHCP :nonono: Ill go to england to see them next time, instead of waiting for certain crapness.:clap::clap::rolleyes:

Lets be honest, they haven`t had a decent sleeve since Run2,with maybe Regret the exception, both the "Republic" and "Get Ready" stuff was quite poor.

Regards the new album.Aparrantly they had to ditch a couple of songs because they sounded too similar to Mr.Brightside and Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine off The Killers album Hot Fuss. This was stated by The Killers and may or may not be true.

I may be wrong, but I don't think Rhino does anything but reissues. I can't think of anything that first appeared on the Rhino label.

I really hope this is true. The first few months of the year are usually really dull so this would be something exciting to look forward to.

Heres hopingXxx

Only problem with March for me is that I'll be very quite busy at this moment. I'm *hum*, supposed to become a father by then...

So it'll be quite hard to update NOOL if the album is indeed released by then...
