New New Order album update...

We may possibly get a New Order album for Christmas.

I guess the guys aren't so lazy after all.

Is it right that this album will be in a simular vein to Technique?, i hope so as I for one didn't think much of the 'guitar' songs on 'Get Ready'. They seem to do 'electronic' stuff a lot better. Did either the band or London records make any money with 'Get Ready'?, I am wondering if it is financially viable for them and whether that has an impact on release dates. Naivety:(

I'll give them a year to release any new stuff.

This is great news!!! Hope we get a new record before those guys are in nursing homes...they need to tour and support their album...especially in the states!!!

Oh, you know they'll just chuck the results from these recordings and go back into the studio for a "Lord of the Rings"-themed concept album...:p

Seriously, it would be great if the new album comes out Xmas-time or earlier. Here's hoping...

And here I was hoping that there was some SUPER NEW AND FRESH news about the new album once the site came back up.

If the mixing of the new album is completed "by the end of September" a release date in October is not out of the question, provided things like the video, remixes/B-sides and artwork of the first single are sorted out before the album is completed rather than afterwards. However, if something happens to push the earliest possible release date back to November or December I suspect the release date will be put back to January 2005 because October and November is the time when record companies look to put out the albums which are most likely to be the biggest sellers of the year because November and December are the months when most albums are sold (if I remember rightly more albums are sold in those two months than in the rest of the year).

The prospect of a genuinely new New Order album may be popular with the band's fans but unless the album is very poppy indeed or they've become gangsta rappers (most of the few genuinely new albums that get released in December tend to be gangsta rap albums) the record company isn't going to see it as a top priority so if they can't release it before the Christmas rush they will hold back until January when it will have a better chance of getting airplay and getting a chart position which will earn it more airplay. So if I was a betting man I'd put money on it appearing in the shops in January 2005. However, the record industry has changed significantly since the last time a new New Order album was released so I would also be tempted to put a bet on at least one track from the album being made available through the likes of the iTunes Music Store in late 2004.

december? bah! the label has to tool up for a promotional plan, video's take forever, it usually takes a few weeks to churn out enough copies to properly "release" the thing across europe and the states, let alone the rest of the world... then ship and distribute them, along with the rest of London's releases. it is a huge task to release records, and if London doesn't see NO as one of their primary releases for the next 6 months, they aren't going to rush it to the front of the line.

Just because it's finished, doesn't mean it'll be released staright away.

*They will want to organise a tour. *Get the artwork done (we all know about that). *The record label will wnat to release it so it doesn't clash with other London releases. *Doesn't clash with a major artist release.

If London/NO can't make mony out of a millionselling album then they're just as bad as Factory.

I'll ALWAYS go with Hooky rather than an anonymous 'source close to the band. Hooky

Brilliant news. I cant wait for it. To be honest, Im just as interested with what saville will come up with for the cover as the material. What drugs are the band doing these days? - always a good basis for what the album will sound like. Also - is the source close to the band called David Sultan?

The most important thing - for me anyhow - is that ill FINALLY get to see NewOrder live sometime soon.
