Alright everybody....

While working on getting the site back as it should be, I'm having fun adding new stuff, so be careful.

Today's iteration features a brand new menu system (the old one made the site crash 3 times a week!), and a total brand new feature: you can now rate the external links! Meaning, the external link will now be sorted by popularity, and not by my own choice...

Might be fun, it will of course be enhanced when needed.

I might have added other stuff I don't remember ;)

You forgot to include the "Online Users" facility in the new menu.

And you still have the post count visible alongside the user name. Some people get very animated by that sort of thing !

Quibble aside, the site is getting better by the day, so thank you Nick for once again giving us "no-lifes" somewhere to not live !

Forums aren't showing as a drop down list and you still can't edit your profile or account. That aside, nice to be back.:thumb:

I see that you now link to eBay and BlueCat. Does this mean that you get some money from that?

I think I would if people registered in EBay via those links.. but seriously, I doubt I'll do.

Blue Cat, no... those links are just to help newbies.

I know, I'll have to find a way, I didn't find it yet...!

BTW, TLV, the menu does work with Opera? I wasn't sure... but this open source menu seems to be nice...!

Oh, everyone, you understand that the rating will be added to the discography once finished, right? ;-)

I'll have to find a way to have a better average...

The menu also works behind my proxy, which castrated the old one somehow.

Probably because the script was hosted on another machine then...

I still can't get a life when I press "live".

You know that my goal is to have you to change your nickname, don't you? :p

interesting feature; gave WIM a 5 star rating - where else would we go when NOOL takes a break - even though it'll never manage to reach the same high standard of info this site has !

The same box (pages.infinit.net) that hosts the smilies?

Yeah, its blocked by my proxy...

What made you decide to produce the site in .NET by the way?

I am producing my main university assignment in ASP C# .NET next year. This is about the only .NET site I know in existantce at the moment.

Some bad tongues would say the most popular topic ever in those forums are NOOL itself :p

It's because this is what I do for living for the last year and a half, coding in C#/VB.Net

Aside from the crashes, I'm very impressed with the forum. My only suggestions would be to add a private messaging feature (if there is one, I've yet to find it on here) lol...and a link at the bottom each thread that takes you to all of the various forum sections. but like I said, all in all, I'm very impressed with the forum... keep up the great work.

Yepp, it works just as well as in Exploder (i.e., everything works except the forums sub-menu). I didn't want to bug you with Opera for the gazillionth time, but since you mentioned it... :D

Nice job as always. You should find a way to make some money off it.

Works for Mike... yeah, he has a last generation hell of a machine! ;) i have troubles with the forum submenus (don´t appear) and the fact that on mouse up the menues appear too low and not right below each word. ah, and the lines between each forum activates on mouse up, which i think is not the idea.

Just keep this site going Spotnick, that's all i care about (wish i could put up a new avatar though).

The discography is back, although I have to play with the data a little, because I changed some things and most tracklisting don't show up anymore.. don't worry, it will be back.

But you can now rate all released item! if you are logged on of course. Eventually, the review system will be implemented for all systems that you can rate (links, discography items, concerts!)

Funny though, I think NOOL is more stable than it has ever been!

The only part left for me to plug back is the fanclub, that should be done soon, I will also plug back the statistics and, hum, will reenhance the song information page.

Could you stick State of the Nation forum into the menu somewhere? I hate having to go to that index page to find it now. Thanks!

Also when you try to edit your profile a blank screen appears. You can't upload a picture for your profile either. Getting there though.

I don't wish to sound ungrateful, but does anyone actually ever use any of these bells and whistles ?

But yes, some people do...

Even though you are giving the impression of relative calm ? I'll have to get Tempe Brennan to start tailing you !

Plus you have to understand Tim, if I don't add those features, what's the point of having a strict copy of some other exisiting websites around?

Example, reviews/rating/audio samples, those are the difference between TLV's discography and mine... otherwise I would like directly to TLV's like I did before!

Plus, I like to do those things :evil4:

(You can note that the audio samples are back in the discography)

But the New Order Discography (that's been around for 12 years) looks a lot better for those of us using "alternative" browsers, say like Opera. :D

I'm not sure if you have the time/interest to troubleshoot the rendering-problems you have in the discography for non-Exploder browsers.. Let me know if you want details - but you probably have Exbloaded/Opera/Mozilla installed already so that you can try out the experience... ;)

Seriously though, the http://www.niagara.edu/neworder site has always been focused towards the "collector-fan", and not necessarily the newbie who wants suggestions of the next album to buy (or download :nono: ). The new features are... "cute" :)

Diversity is good.

CSS for the people.

My point exactly... diversity is good, so it would be stupid to copy exactly what you did ;)

And of course it's XHTML compliant, so it helps with other browsers, but *ahem*, 92% of the users of NOOL uses Internet Explorer ;)

Nice. I think that I was the one who did the tedious task of creating each individual HTML page, and Richard did the overall layout. Of course, I won't forget that windy October afternoon in '92 when I discovered the Ceremony list and the postings of the original ASCII Discography. Quite a few dollars later, and here I am...

Anyhow, the latest revision of the Discography (which so far only exists on my hard drive) will be a little bit more user-friendly. With of course even more updates and scans. I'll try to have it done before we see new material from the buys.

Also, there are some other projects brewing...
