Just been listening to New Order playing the Barras 12-09-86 (thanks Jan !)
where Barney complains that the Edinburgh twats (
) hurt his feelings the night before, and it strikes me that the weegie audiences must be amongst the most enthusiastic. On each of the Glasgow gigs I now have they are well into it, singing and clapping along from the word go. An enthusiasm only equalled by the Porte Alegre audience. Is it something they put in the water ?

Yeah, there's also an incredible tape of the Smiths at Barrowlands (the '85 'Meat Is Murder' tour) on which the crowd is unbelievable. At one point, Johnny Marr's guitar drops out, causing Morrissey to faulter for a few lines (bass & drums continue), and then the audience joins in and by singing along manages to pull Morrissey back on board. Truly fantastic

All the Glasgow gigs kick arse, espescially the Barra's 6-2-85.
There's a famous bootleg of The Stone Roses on Glasgow Green June 11th 1990 (last ever gig as the original line up and yup, I was there!) that really makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up.
They come onto "Adored" and you can't here John Squire for everyone singing the opening guitar part.
Electronic at the Barrowlands was pretty pish tough. Full of Smiths fans in cardigans.

Damn... this is why I truely wish I had been a teenager in the 80's....All of the great concerts they threw.... all tha unforgettable Barney rambles.... damn.... to those of you that got to experience it first hand.... i tip my hat in honor...
